    A/C Question

A friend of mine has been removing the refrigerant control valve and cleaning it with brake cleaner. He says he has had great luck doing that. Of course, it requires removing it and then a recharge will be needed.

2006 Jetta TDI blowing fuse SB23

Solved. I was in the process of examining the wiring loom. I was just not seeing anything. I figured if I had to remove the harness to inspect it better, I might as well put another harness back in. I had two I had in my pile, one was in really good shape. So I installed the other harness...

2006 Jetta TDI blowing fuse SB23

I have been checking all the wiring. I have continuity from both N75 and N345 down to the big connector under the coolant hose from radiator top. I have not taken the windshield wiper shield off to test the connector going into ECM. I had VCDS on it running output tests on N75 and N345 to see...

Hello All I have a 2006 BRM TDI that continues to blow the fuse SB23. This fuse is for the EGR switch over valve N345 and wastegate regulator valve N75. I have not had any issues with this for a few months now. Nothing has been done to the vehicle lately. At first I wondered it it was...

    WTB: Bare BRM block

Hello all I bought a 2006 BRM about 4 years ago which had a bad cylinder. When removing the head, I found piston #2 totally destroyed on the top and the cylinder wall has been scored. Looked into the costs to use this block, but its proving to be quite expensive. The engine shop close to me...

    AC acting weird.

Traded cars with my son so I could get into this. I do have VCDS, so hooked it up to check and found a code in the HVAC module for the High pressure switch. Just so happened that I had one of them. Swapped it and then drove the car into work this morning. No issues with it turning off. Lets...

    AC acting weird.

2006 Jetta TDI. My sons car. He says the AC will run and seems ok. Then when he stops at a light and it idles for that amount of time, the AC quits working due to the fans stopping. He came over and we found that his large cooling fan was not working. I had a set of fans from another TDI I...

WTB: BRM Turbo exhaust manifold Only

Hello I have a turbo from a rebuild I did a while back. The engine I bought came with a good working turbo. Decided to see how the vanes looked. To me I thought they were stuck so I have soaked them in chem dip for a week or two. During which time I would move each of the vane levers to get...

    Whining Noise BRM

Solved!!!! I am one to come back to the forum after posting a question to give updates and/or solutions. This time I have found the issue. My son said he lost turbo this afternoon. I assumed it was going to be from the ziptie mod, but then found that I had a stainless steel one on it. That...

    Whining Noise BRM

It does not make noise while depressing the clutch. It only makes the noise when revving the engine.

    Whining Noise BRM

Update: No change at this point, but I wanted to get back on just to keep things current. I am going to replace both the intake and exhaust manifold gaskets. I had seen a video of a GTI that was making a very similar sound which ended up being the gaskets. As mentioned above, pilot bearing...

    Whining Noise BRM

Its hard to tell where its coming from. When its sitting, we have to rev it up in order hear it at the higher RPM, so the noise is load. It can be heard better from inside the car, so maybe off the back. It is just so hard to tell. I can try to get some video of it.
