Speculation: During the -10f weather here shrinkage between the iron block and aluminum pump and rubber o-ring allowed a decent amount of coolant to leak out over a few days. Since the temps have warmed, it’s barely a teaspoon of fluid over two nights.
I put the car back together and intend to...
In the dirty image and then the cleaned up screenshot of video, hopefully you can see the line of coolant following the mating line between the block and front crank seal housing. (I’m guessing at the part name). It comes from just above ( behind the rear timing cover. I’m guessing the seal of...
Well, I put the car up on jackstands to investigate/ confirm the coolant leakage.
The left side of the block is bone dry. The fluid on the intercooler coupling was oil from a lazy oil filter change. The right side of the engine (above the right axle) is drooling oil. Like it’s been doing for...
So I ordered up the Oil Filter housing, gasket, thermostat assembly, and coolant.
I will be taking the intercooler off and replacing the defective unit when the parts show up and weather permits.
Where is a good place to get the lower intercooler elbow? Mine has a cut (not through) and is soft...
I know the sound. It is more apparent when it is could outside, or it's just getting worse (and it coincides with being colder out).
Not sway bar end links. I replaced them, and it helped for a month. old links weren't sloppy, but the new links were stiff. Once the loosened up the front end...
New Birthday party: 210,894.
I had to re-secure the passenger side mirror. I used a few quarter size drops of E6000, taped it up and kept it in the garage for a week to set the glue in the sub-50 deg climate. Hopefully the glue has cured.
Also, I broke part number 02E 321.363B "over-torqing"...
Conducted the reset, now we wait for cooler temps. I forgot to mention that I had the check engine light on due to EGR Cooler out of spec. I cleared it with VCDS a few months back. The error code popped up a day later.
I reset it after swapping the heater core. So far the check engine light...
I moved from Kansas to Boston this summer. We had a heavy cold rain, so I needed to run the defroster (in summer) which doesn't happen in Kansas.
The windshield wouldn't clear due to no heat. None.. So I used A/C mode. It was cold, but pulled the humidity out of the air and off the glass...
Replacement was straight forward. It does not seem like the regulator motor has travel limits internally, so it does not matter the window position when the motor is secured to the regulator mechanism.
The plastic window retaining pin is a 2 piece unit. I put the larger section into the window...
I used 3 floor jacks( passenger side not shown). I could not see where to locate my floor stands. But, my wife insists I keep my life insurance current.
l lowered the subframe about an inch on driver side, less on passenger side. It wasn't enough, so raised the transmission until it limited...
I had to loosen the subframe, raise the drivetrain, and use a pry bar to get the front pivot bolt to clear the transmission.
Used Driver side lower control arm.
The rubber bushing completely failed.
