    Rocker rust dilemma

Crank seal is pretty common one. Now what really sucks, is if you get a leak from between the gear housing and block...because in order to replace that $10 gasket, cam has to come out...which means radiator frame support has to be cut, lifters have to be held in place and not dropped into the...

What did you do to your MKIV today?

I'm a T6 guy. Reason is, my motorcycle uses it, dirtbike uses it, car and truck both use it, and my girfriend's motorcycle and dirtbike use it. Only thing at our place that doesn't take it is her 4Runner. It's nice to have one oil that works in everything. I'm glad it's back on shelves, because...

What did you do to your MKIV today?

I'm going HDs next go around. TCs are good, but I want a bit more stability when I lean into it. I don't mind the 3/4 ton ride since I have one :)

Ran over dead deer this am

The hybrid pan is nice, I'm running one. Just know there's a bit of modification you need to do to the pan, and likely a small amount of filing on the backside of the condenser body where the threads for the mount are.

Ran over dead deer this am

Air can get past threads. I've had RTV sitting for months with one one on. It's the only thing I've been able to use that successfully keeps the RTV in the state where it can be re applied. I've tried plastic caps, I've tried shoving things in there, it always hardens. But yes, you need to keep...

Ran over dead deer this am

They make little condoms you can roll on the end of the cap. Airtight so never have to worry about the RTV curing. I think they were $6 on Amazon

    Confusion about fuses

If that is the case, this is what you need to do : https://forums.tdiclub.com/index.php?threads/mkiv-golf-fixing-hatch-boot-wiring.504001/

    Confusion about fuses

Correct. Pull the boots back. It's a well documented issue with the Golf. The wires tie into the Central system and can cause lots of electrical issues. Interior Lights, door locks, rear window defrost, etc

    Confusion about fuses

Hey OP, you have a Golf. Ever pulled the hatch boots back and checked the wiring? Notorious for cracked wires which will cause havoc in the Central system.

Am I in trouble? Oil level no longer going down

Engine warmed up then gotta let it settle for 5 minutes. Sometimes you can't smell fuel in the oil. Better to do the white paper towel test

    2005 NB Headlight Housings Upgrade

You didn't do the finishing then that I mentioned. 2 part clear coat. They will last forever. I've done plenty of restorations this way. Did you do a projector retrofit before slapping HIDs in a reflector housing? If not, tis tis. You are doing a disservice to other people on the road

    2005 NB Headlight Housings Upgrade

OEM will always be the best option. You can wet sand them to get the yellow away. Finish with 1000 ish grit. Bring to body shop and have them shoot a 2 part clear coat next time they mix up a batch. Depending on your OCD, you may need to wet sand and polish off there's some orange peel. They...
