    Front Brake Job 'How To'

I haven't posted here in a while, but I swapped out my front pads today and had to search to find out about the wear sensor. I bought the cheaper ones with out it because I actually forgot I had one. little over 100k miles on my last set. I skimmed this thread after I found my answer and came...

Ok, i've been thinking about it and i think i can manage to go. Have to make sure i can swap on call week first. Need to get my ecu modified for glow plugs and a few mods i've done. would be nice to do it there and not have to mail my ecu off. Would also love peoples suggestions on better...

    Snap Test for Emissions?

I have to ask, why is everyone so afraid of flooring it and letting off right away? or do they expect you to hold it for a second or two? If nothing is wrong with your car you can easily do this safely? Mine will not even end up near redline on just a full blip of the throttle. I don't know...

    Snap Test for Emissions?

How is it ruined? Was it driven away from the shop?

Motive brake fluid change (caution 3MB of pics)

I can't say if what i did was the right way, but what i did was just took the top off, sat the jug part upside down into my oil drain pan to let the exces drain out and as much as possible off the walls. I hung the head up by the base of the hose part to allow as much of the fluid to drain out...

Stories when filling up at "gasoline station"

A vending machine company my dad use to work for said it was a sad and common thing for a few of the drivers to "take" the local shell stations nozzle with them. The station would call the company and ask them to bring it back. Apparently they had some of the disconnect type hoses where it...

Battery Maintenence, EVERYTHING you NEED to know!

I'm no expert, but that one cell may be getting week. If the rest are good, it will problaby hold up another year or two as long as that one cell and the others don't get worse. I would guess that maybe the water/acid lever is getting out of optimal levels or it is low. Make sure the fluid...

Stories when filling up at "gasoline station"

When i was in Canada, i never could use my card at any station that had pay at the pump. I had to always go in and pay inside. The plus side is that i didn't have to prepay. They all let me fill up first.

Motive brake fluid change (caution 3MB of pics)

Very true. I didn't think about it when i did mine and ended up getting air in the clutch because i sucked off most of the fluid. Motive bleeder wouldn't push it through either. Had to bleed the clutch by hand to get the air out.

    vnt-17 install on bew tdi.

Thanks for the info. I need to pull my stock ic and see if i can clean out all of the metal bits of the destroyed turbo. If not i have to replace it. either stock or aftermarket.

    vnt-17 install on bew tdi.

Yes, that is my concern. some people seem to have used the idparts alh ic pipes, but the aren't listed for them. Is it solely because of the clips? As if, if i replaced the ic and using a pd150 race pipe, i could use those pipes? Or is the fit different for angles and size, especially for...

Any recommendations on better intercooler and custom piping? I'm in this boat at the moment. I've order everything i need except the intercooler and piping. I'm leaning towards that eurojet smic but not reall sure. A few others smics i've looked at all seem to hang way too low to the ground...

    vnt-17 install on bew tdi.

I find myself now in the same situation as the original poster. My kp39 craped out badly. the impeller destroyed itself. luckily, so far, it seem that the intercooler caught the oil and metal pieces. I'm guessing at this point that the intercooler had enough oil and such in it that it was...

Help, car stalled and will not start

I'm actually looking at the vnt-17 for the BEW and trying to see if i can find a better side mount intercooler with lower piping. So far i'm not having much luck. Going to just call idparts and see if they have or can get it along with a pd150 intake to get rid of the flapper setup in the...

Help, car stalled and will not start

http://pics.tdiclub.com/showgallery.php?cat=5122 Turbo died. I'm guessing the bit of oil and bits thrown into the intercooler was preventing enough airflow to keep it from starting. post 47 is long, but i covered pretty much everything i've found so far and how i stumbled upon it. I need to...

Help, car stalled and will not start

Found the problem tonight. Oh how i wish it was a fuel problem. :( How i stumbled upon the problem was i removed the upper rubber hose from the ASV and the cross over hard plastic pressure line that comes from the inter-cooler to get the upper timing cover off so i could check the timing...
