manual gearbox shifter will not center by itself
hello everybody- just wondering if anybody else had the same problem...
for the last few weeks i have noticed that the shifter will take its time to center itself (ie when you pull it towards you before push it up to engage 1st gear) and let it...
My hvac blower quit working. I removed it (very easy) and if i give it a little nudge it will take off. Lubricating it did not fix it. So I need a new blower motor.
Can anybody tell me what is the part#? I thought it was 1K1 819 015 but it seems to matter if you have climatronic or not. My car...
oh, absolutely. if you want to maintain your warranty - use whatever they want to ream you to use "or else"...
my point was that the sky will not fall if your car gets "by accident" another quality synthetic oil in the crankcase...
pfft... here is my heresey- oil is irrelevant. as long as you are using correct viscosity full synthetic oil - all is good.
the crowd should get their hints from the fact that audi requires 505.01 for the old rs6 while the race teams racing those cars in stock or close to stock form ran mobil...
with all the tension created by the pulley and the valve springs i would be very surprised if the cam walks on the cam when the cam bolts are loosened... without doing something really stupid like turning forcefully the crank somehow...
if you just sneak up on the center bolt with a long-lever...
i really dont think one needs a step-by-step with pictures- it is that simple, but off the top of my head - here it is...
1. remove the engine cover and shroud
2. remove the torx that holds the intake pipe down via a bracket
3. remove the front clamp (i used a set of large pliers to squeeze...
update. drove car today for 75 miles.
no shake when coming to a stop after a long coast (was happening every time when engine warm).
engine runs smoother and i _think_ it has a wee bit more power.
mpg meter is now about right - used to be about 15% optimistic, but i never corrected it...
it was very straight-forward.
i losened the three bolts and turned the center bolt just a smidge forward and tightened the three pulley bolts back.
put everything back together, fired up the car and went for a ride.
immediate observations:
1. the engine is smoother at any speeds -...
oh come on- no factory adjustable pulley that i know of will allow you to degree the cam to a point where there will be sex between the pistons and the valves... :D this is done so if the bolts give away the pulley does not cause a major mechanical failure. this is done so when don pedro on 5...
warranty? what warranty... long gone.
what is the downside of advancing timing a smidge on a diesel engine? it is not like it will start to detonate... worst is it can lose some power in which case i will retard it promptly.
alex

stay tuned.
where is the cam cover? havent looked much under the hood of the jetta... i assume it is on the left-hand side of the engine when standing in front of the car- right?
a pic would be nice- if not - i will just swing it while under the...
it will be great if somebody can outline what the timing solution was.

i know- wishful thinking...
