Yea the car is rusty, all the bolts and clamps everywhere. I may take another look at things and what may be the main wire for ground I can remove and clean up. Otherwise I may just leave the wire there as added protection

Does it make sense that my car has an extra ground that touches one of the alternator bolts - then ground to the frame? Whoever did the alternator on the car added a ground but nothing looks broken, seems like all wires are connected to the alternator otherwise. Anyone see this before or do it...

Lost the tab of a helicoil in the oil pan

Haha whoops, well good for him and his quick fix. I'd be worried of a piece still stuck in there after that lol

Lost the tab of a helicoil in the oil pan

Anyone in Canada selling injector nozzles?

I would try Darkside developments sets if I could go back. If people had luck at performance TDI then they may be ok, pretty sure the owner of that place sells his turbos/advertises on Kijiji

Long crank/starts normally after 4-5 tries

The bew has a lift pump too, and when you turn the key on you should hear it activate. Makes a buzzing sound. If you don't hear any buzzing when the key is turned on from the rear of the car, then that in tank lift pump can be worn out. Have had to change them out before

Long crank/starts normally after 4-5 tries

Maybe check that the EGR flap is opening and closing ok. If it's stuck closed it may be more difficult to start. The BEW have grounding issues in the ECM too. I once had to get an extra ground added to the ECM, technical service bullitin about this. You will get longer starts sometimes vs others

Engine doesn't shut off when key removed(?!)

That's interesting. Maybe the fuel pump shut off solenoid isn't working. I once was working on my car, tightening injectors and my ratchet touched the fuel pump and the car shut off from the ground. Figured that's how the car shuts off. It shut down quick too, I was wondering what happened for a...
