What kind of performance increase to expect from VNT-17 & .230 nozzles in my ALH?

Thats a typical stage IV tune so should be ~170 whp and ~ 300 lb ft of torque with a healthy engine, good compression and clear intake manifold with PP264 nozzles. You may need to adjust the IQ if it’s too low and not making enough power.

Amsoil bypass install on 2012 Jetta TDI Sportwagen and need help

Installing a bypass system on a CR and then extending the 507 oil change interval past 10k miles because you “believe” that it has extended the oil life (like a big rig or truck) would actually be harmful to the engine and shorten its life.

    .205 Nozzles on stock clutch

BRM with stage II with give a 17-050 flywheel shudder under moderate throttle. VR6/G60 will handle an ALH stage II with .216 nozzles. I believe 325 lb/ft is the number. Cascade German had the best deal on this kit by far a couple years ago.

Amsoil bypass install on 2012 Jetta TDI Sportwagen and need help

Nearly all engine wear occurs during startup, there is only a residual oil film present and parts are transitioning from their cold to hot dimensions while moving and under load. How you drive during this dynamic phase of thermal expansion has a the most significant impact on engine longevity...

Amsoil bypass install on 2012 Jetta TDI Sportwagen and need help

Bypass filtration makes sense if you have a large oil sump. It doesn’t if it’s only 4.5L. Basically the whole “economy of scale” argument is in play. I have a diesel car that is tuned and burns extremely clean with fuel additive. My last oil analysis showed soot was < 0.1% @ 13k miles, but the...

Tallest Tire for a 2014 JSW with 17" Wheels?

Use America’s tire website. Select your car with 17” wheels, it will show the tire sizes will fit. If it’s lowered this tool may not work.

    Will R99 kill my CP4?

Chevron also has an ambiguous “95% biomass based diesel blend”. It’s sold and labeled as Diesel #2 but at the pump there is an orange sticker indicating it’s something else. False advertising IMO. I told my Dad to avoid renewable diesel to avoid leaks and he thought he was. The fake diesel #2...

What is best low saps, low friction, low viscosity VW 504/507 vs. VW508/509 to use in 2020-> 2.0 TDI EVO engines?

I would use 5w30 or 5w40 unless you need a 0w because of Arctic ambient conditions. Mobil 1 esp 5w30 Ravenol RUP or REP Ravenol NDT

Not a TDI 2014 Chevy Cruze Diesel

I have one of these, see my profile pic. It has an emissions compliant EFI live tune 185 hp/320 lb/ft. Similar mileage too. I see your 2014 has the updated face of a 2015. For those that don’t know, these are the KING of MPGs. No VW TDI can compare to what I get, especially at high speed. Even...

Interesting he can do this without a lift. I don’t really want to tow my JSW 5000 miles to get the work done. Maybe I can work something out with him. What is his hourly labor rate?

Hey there, I’m also in CA the northern part of the state. Who did your CP3 and stage II? I haven’t found anyone here in CA that is a VW specialist who can or will do the work? They are all chickenshit I have a CR170 with Malone stage III and cp3 need to get it installed on my 2010 JSW. My only...

    2-ethylhexyl nitrate?

This graph above is not 1.9 TDI specific, it demonstrates the effect of high cetane and PCP in regards to timing.

    2-ethylhexyl nitrate?

Buying a 55 gallon drum of an additive is ridiculous. It degrades and the cost benefit is negligible. I buy 5 gallons at a time to use in 3 different vehicles for personal use and it lasts 2 years at 400:1. It’s not the sulfur that adds lubricity, it’s actually the aromatic hydrocarbons that...

    2-ethylhexyl nitrate?

If the cetane is higher and ignition delay is shorter slightly advancing the timing may be beneficial. It’s all theoretical though. Only trending using a pressure transducer mounted in the glow plug hole can tell you what peak cylinder pressure is at different loads. From what I remember the...

    2-ethylhexyl nitrate?

This is a product I use. The SDS lists the 2-EHN concentration @ 30% in the formula. https://www.amalgamatedinc.com/products/classic-tdr-premium-diesel-fuel-additives/classic-tdr-fl-premium-summer-diesel-fuel-additive/sds-tdr-fl The additive manufacturer advertises a 5-7 cetane number boost if...

    2-ethylhexyl nitrate?

2-EHN is in most additive formulas in varying %. It’s effect or response is highly dependent on fuel quality. If dosing to a low cetane low quality fuel it‘s effect can be significant whereas if used with high quality fuel the effect can be negligible. Generally a cetane value of 50 is desirable.

Horrible MPG, but car runs excellently? 2012 Jetta Sportwagen

Im fortunate that there are 3 costcos in my area that have it, but I don’t go there unless it’s $1.00 gallon less because of the lines or I go at 6:00 am when the first open. I have a handful of stations I use in the area that sell basic rack grade D2 which have lower prices. I used R99 for a...

Horrible MPG, but car runs excellently? 2012 Jetta Sportwagen

Try Gasbuddy and check for a Costco near you. There are 16 Costcos in CA that sell B5 and they are usually $0.20-$1 a gallon cheaper than the competition. https://www.costco.com/gasoline-diesel.html The R99 makes less torque than D2 and is dropping your FE 5-7%. R99 is higher cetane. It’s in...

Hoshots uses shills on forums. They provide free product in exchange for someone to pump their product in various posts. You may be able to get free stuff by reaching out to their marketing dept. Many of their products and others make dubious claims of which I’m skeptical. The more you research...
