Its been a year!
Folks it was one year ago today the buybacks started! I cant believe I created a 50+ page thread. (I was #23 in the country to turn their car in)
I am VW TDI free, but still maintain my 80 year old fathers 14 Tiguan. I learned a lot, got a lot of information, shared a lot...
My gut (not sure) is that they do a general scan (OBD II) scan and then they scan the modules. I am no expert in VW ECMs but I think if you clear the modules in VCDS and have a clean tailpipe for their visual check your good to go. Honestly I would get some high temp silver spray paint and mask...
I don't see why Dr. Bob's solution would not work. Put his filter on, clean your exhaust with brake parts cleaner clear the codes with VCDS (including any faults or things in the different modules) drive it around so it gets readiness for OBD II and take it in.
Personally, I had a cracked DPF...
How about getting the Dr. Bob Dr.Volks EGR filter that is redesigned with the less restrictive filter
Install it, clear the codes and history, and things should be set right?
Schnitzer also did mine at the same yard. Crushed on Valentines day.
VW must be doing a good job of keeping secrecy and photos/videos from ending up online because I have yet to see a video of one being crushed.
I figure at some point a photo or video of them crushing cars will leak...
Assuming misfuel guard was in place I would call plaintiffs council NHTSA and even local news station at this point! The video is pretty damning

Are these Measurement Results suitable for legal disputes?
NO, they are NOT.
VAS 6774 should give the diagnostic specialist a real chance – to detect fuel
contaminations in customer vehicles.
VAS 6774 should reduce...
Dr. Bob on here has a reworked EGR filter that he has modified not to clog. I would buy one of his filters (assuming you cant tell that it was modified)
Check with him he has a post in the emissions thread on here

Not that I would buy their parts as their MasterPro line chassis parts are Chineseium , and I would not trust a reman Alternator from them but both state Limited Lifetime Warranty.
The Monroe OeSpectrum struts are also lifetime
The MasterPro (Dayco) belts have a 1 year warrant...
Is there information about the scrapping process and what yards VW is using in the court documents? Would love to read about who VW is contracting with and what they are scrapping.
Like many members on here, my car was turned in in excellent condition; Yokohama Avid Ascend LRR tires with about 60% life left ; new rear brakes , its 3rd but brand new RCV.
Cracked DPF and timing belt due along with HPFP concern and a "need" for a bigger car (kids came along) made turning it...
Folks:
As you may know from my story I was one the first 25 cars turned into VW on the very first day cars were bought back. 2010 TDI Sedan 110,000 miles on it / Cracked DPF no check engine light (cleared before turn-in)
I found a free vin search site https://www.research.com/vehicle/land.php...
As others have said, this was all written into the agreement with the NHTSA , their investigation, and the warranty extension.
Dealerships were provided with a field test to expedite the APPROVAL of claims. This field test has a high false positive rate.
A false positive requires them to...
The smiley face / sad face tester was sent to do a quick field test of the fuel. It was put out to give dealerships a quick way to APPROVE warranty claims without sending the sample to the lab. It has a HIGH false positive rate, but the procedure for a positive (SAD FACE) is to send the sample...
I dropped my Jetta off, my 78 year old father on my advise drives a 2015 Tiguan... He was my ride home from the dealership.
Wish the US had a Tiguan TDI
