    Considering a TDI, again...should I?

Thanks for your input. Performance wise, I was happy with my 98 Bug w/ the Rocket chip base tune. I’m sure these newer engines have more pep and must be quieter as well...

    Considering a TDI, again...should I?

I have been out of the TDI arena for 7 year. Prior to that I’ve owned 5 TDIs and had somewhat good luck in terms of reliability and performance. Some were trouble free, some needed work all the time. Recently I spotted a “great” selection of the 2011-2014 TDIs at a local Ford dealership (15...

Volkswagen's Clean Air Act violations on 2009+ TDIs spark huge recall, investigations

http://www.autonews.com/article/20150112/RETAIL07/150119934/vw-plans-to-add-100-u.s.-dealerships-by-2018 According to this article, there are 650 VW dealers in the US. Not sure if they all have a diesel guy on staff or not; but it looks like they will have to dedicate 2 guys to work on this...

Volkswagen's Clean Air Act violations on 2009+ TDIs spark huge recall, investigations

If I had a TDI related remorse on the ethical side of the Emissiongate, I would never spend my money on a VW product again. If they fudged on the TDI ECU programming, what's the guarantee they don't have the same process in place for programming the gas Engines. At the end of the day this...

    Emissiongate poll

Are you (when VW starts selling TDIs again): 1. Looking to trade in your TDI and get a gas VW? 2. Looking to trade in your TDI and buy a non-VW? 3. Looking to buy a new TDI, and trade in your gas car? 4. Looking to buy a used TDI?

Volkswagen's Clean Air Act violations on 2009+ TDIs spark huge recall, investigations

If I were in the market for a TDI this would be the time to buy one. The price of new and used ones will only go down. Even if the affected vehicles ECUs get reprogrammed for lower emissions or higher fuel consumption purchase price discount would make this vehicle even more "cost effective"...

Sound Off on Current Diesel Price

My local VW dealer has more New TDIs in stock than the gassers. Not too long ago there would be one or two TDIs on the lot, today it shows 25! Wondering what kind of incentives they have on TDIs nowadays...www.gezonvw.com

Sound Off on Current Diesel Price

Adjusted for the exchange rate of 15%, it boils down to a little over USD$4 a gallon...It looks like it is still cheaper to fill on this side of the border.

Sound Off on Current Diesel Price

Picture from 3 Days ago in West Michigan... Today; RUG went down to $2.15; E85 $1.15; D2 $3.55 D2 is 40% more expensive than RUG and 67% more than E85! Money wise; with the current price spread my 2014 Silverado on E85 costs as much to run as a TDI.

Sound Off on Current Diesel Price

I think it's the other way around...we never had more geopolitical mess and instability, however the prices are going down as we produce more oil locally.

Sound Off on Current Diesel Price

Northern Michigan D2=$4.29 , same gas station RUG=$2.79! (Filled up E85 for $1.61) D2 around here goes for around $3.85 With the current price spread it is cheaper to drive my Silverado than a TDI...haven't seen this kind of price differential ever...

When did we start using temperatures in Celsius instead of Fahrenheit

Here is an interesting article http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/German_obsolete_units_of_measurement I guess there was a variety of standards in Europe, not just between the countries, but also with a single culture (country). It looks like standardization to the metric ( and decimal) system was...

How to warm up my tdi in winter

I had to sell my wife's 04 TDI as she could not deal with sub-standard heat...contrary to that, my 05 Jeep Libery CRD had no issues producing heat right a way. Not sure if this has been corrected with the latest generation of the TDIs, but it is an issue for for people who expect instant heat in...

Chrysler First U.S. Car Company to Reenter Diesel Market

The sad thing is they will probably make it for 2 years just like it was the case with the Liberty CRD and the prior Grand Cherokee CRD. I gets 17% better "gas" milage however diesel fuel is 20+% more expensive than gas.
