Holding steady @ $5.89/gal at the Costco in Elk Grove.

I was able to squeeze 41.3 MPGs on 70/30 mixed driving out of my Gen 1 Cruze CTD, the best I’ve ever gotten. Driving more conservatively and keeping freeway speed at 70 mph helps a lot.

The current crude oil price doesn’t align with what we are paying per gallon. It’s almost like there is some collusion or price fixing going on…

Noticed that it is dropping slightly. Down to $4.40 in SC over the weekend.

RUG dropped to $4.01, but diesel is still holding at $5.29.

$5.59 at my local Costco this morning. For me that's a really good price as all around is $5.99 and up.

Gasbuddy cannot be relied on. It said $5.99 this morning, I updated it while I was at the pump and a few hours later some twit entered $5.99 again.

Paid $4.79 minus a 30 cent grocery discount at lunch. First $100 tank of fuel I've put in the truck. OUCH!

Paying about 4.89 in southern Indiana right now. Just over $5 in North Carolina a few days ago then a few miles down the road it was cheaper. Was my first ever $100+ fill up also.

Did a day trip last week. Station in SC on one side of I85 was $5.05. Station on the other side was $4.79.

It’s been holding steady at $1.82/liter (that’s Canadian dollars) for three weeks here in southwest Saskatchewan, at least it’s not going up...
Also I need to remember not to complain to “ordinary” people about only getting 45mpg... man it’s nice having a TDI

I miss my 2000 Beetle for that reason. The emissions fix on the JSW dropped mileage down to around 38 mpg.

I wish that I could offer some hopeful news on fuel prices. But I don't have any. The EIA says diesel could average $4.40 in early autumn, but that agency is never very good at forecasting. (Gasoline stocks are also very low.)

More bad news. ULSD/heating oil futures are up 60 cents/gallon since the close last Friday.

And today (Wednesday) the Energy Information Agency reported another drop in distillate stocks, now far below the bottom of the five-year range.

And Russia's cutoff of natural gas supplies to some Eastern Europe countries will force them to use scarce heating oil supplies for generating electricity. So the global shortage of distillate fuels is about to get worse and diesel prices will almost certainly go even higher.

Fill your tanks!

Need I mention that spring planting is starting almost everywhere. I hope farmers have already filled their 500-gallon (or bigger) fuel tanks.

I've noticed a couple stations around here where diesel had fallen to $4.99 or $5.09 are now in the $5.29-$5.49 range.

Both of the stations up the block have been holding at $6.29 for about a month now (Vallejo, CA). I was wondering when their prices would go up...

The West Coast is a long way from Rotterdam. East Coast supplies will be tapped first for export to Europe.

5.15 ish here in western mass. We’ve historically had pretty reasonable diesel prices so it’s very noticeable even if it’s low relative to some other places in the US.

We’ll see! Starting a new job in a few weeks with a 140mi round trip commute. Definitely more sensitive to fuel prices now than I have been historically. At least now I can get parts, unlike during peak covid. It might be expensive, but I’m at least confident that if I spend the $ on fuel I won’t get stranded with something else broken.

Motivation to drive more conservatively, I guess!

My son is in Northampton and currently has a 120 mile round trip commute. We always have joked that if you're filling a TDI more than once a week you're driving too much. He's there now.

Diesel jumped 50 cents overnight down here. Was thinking of filling on the way home last night and decided I didn't want to fight the heavier traffic. Price was $4.65 and this morning it was $5.15. Found go ol wallywolrd still had it for $4.89. I'll see if the truck likes it.
