507 is low ash oil, so it tries not to accumulate ash in the DPF. The DPF can only accumulate a certain amount of ash before it has to be replaced.
Non 507 oil will generate more ash, thus hurting the DPF.
Before I had my TDI, my 04 Impala battery would just lose a cell in 2 years, drove to work just fine, went to a store after work started and ran fine. But trying to start the car, nope battey was dead. Luckily I had a three year warranty so replacement was free.
Living in Arizona, I keep my car air temp set to LO (Low) for 10 months in a year, I adjust the fan speed. I hate the auto and max ac system in the SEL climate controls.
The main reason for SEL for me was the fender audio and KESSY/ Push Start/ Remote start.
There is no time limit for the fix to happen. The original deadline was for the payout/buy back.
Hell if you find a non fixed car, wait 10 years, then get the fix done. VW still have to honor the warranty.
