If you have the cam out all the valves will be closed and no problem with pistons hitting valves.

Turn the engine over by hand and let the compression pop it loose.

It's all over. Turned car in Thursday afternoon. Money in my account this morning, Monday. As long as VW Credit is paid off, I'm completely done with VW.

Sounds like what happened to the passengers side front door on my Jetta. Fortunately for me, it happened on the day I was turning my car in for the buy back. I just tied the door shut and the buy back guy didn't care.

Turned in mine yesterday at 2pm. Received email to transfer money to my account at 7:30 pm today. Looks like by Monday or Tuesday the money should be in my account and the nightmare will be over.
