Once a calander year works for me. It seems that European change intervals are x2 longer than the North American change interval of 20k miles for the same part.

When it comes to Touaregs, buy it new. We have 100k miles on our 2012. We've had the maintenance on time and fixed the thing that broke (ad blue heater). Best car ever.
Why speculate with unseen problem(s) with a Touareg, there are repairs needed, spend the cash to fix it or buy a new one.
