    Ok the plot thickens. I found broken wires from the pcv heater and I fixed those and the maf will plug in now and vehicle will run however there is no response from the throttle pedal. Unplug maf and all is ok.

    I just replaced the dmf and now the car will start and then run approx 10-15 seconds and then die. I am able to turn on the fuel pumps via vagcom. Also the wipers do not work.     I have done a Timing belt on a CR. if you have done a pd motor I think the cr is easier. Once you pull everything out of way there is more room. Like anything take your time and follow guide and it will fire right up and no setting time. Comp takes care of that for you.
