Got to putter with it a little this afternoon. Cylinder 4 is dead. No obvious problems under the valve cover and still a ton of blow by.

More bumping.

Buick V8's used to die for the same thing Frank describes. The fix there was to cross drill the crank to maintain constant oil film for both rod bearings and bottom half of the crank. That creates a similar effect as the fully grooved main shells, but without reducing the load carrying...
