Fix #2. I cut off the bad bubble flare, swapped the DIN nut for an SAE one, and put a double flare on the end of the line. Then I used an SAE to DIN adapter, which helped make up for the line I cut off. Note that I scraped the plastic coating off so the flare tool could grip uncoated steel.
