Paid $5.199/gal last night in NW NJ just off I-78. Right across the state highway from where I filled up was another station showing $5.699/gal.

If you go back and look at pages 55-60 or thereabouts in this thread you'll see that 14 years ago diesel prices were very similar to what they are now. And those were 2008 dollars. $5.00 adjusted for inflation is about $6.50 today, so prices would have to approach $7.00 to be the highest ever.

Was $3.59 Sunday, shot up to $4.09 Monday, Tuesday $4.49, Today $5.19.

This is stupid, also unleaded is 50 cents cheaper than diesel :rolleyes:.

I'm seeing a full dollar or more spread between diesel and rug. In perspective, that's still less than a 30% spread which is the break even point for in my vehicles. I looked back through my mileage book and saw the cheapest fuel for my truck was last year at $1.51.

Here diesel is at $4.99 and rug is at $3.69. $1.30 a gallon different!

If I recall one thing that was different in '08 was at some point in the price spike diesel was cheaper than RUG. That certainly isn't the case now, but maybe prices will adjust as the home heating season ends.

That was true in this area, I know. I was driving a Jeep Comanche that got 13mpg at that time. The highest I saw diesel was $4.05 and the highest I saw gasoline was $4.15.
I really felt it then, as I was 17 and was working for $7.35 an hour as well as driving 200 miles per week. But, I did survive.

As I was running out to lunch, the wife called to see if I would look at fuel prices. Most around here are $5.25 and up. Found one station at $4.40. Guess who topped off the truck? She'll stop there while she's out too. Their rug was $4.35.

Post on IG from a trucker;

"$5.15/gal! just think about that when you buy your milk. I have to fill my refer and my truck. All y'alls prices going up"

I can work around the prices, up to a point. But what about those who have to drive? What else price wise will go up because of the price at the pump? Makes Colbert's statement on his late night show even more tone deaf.

$4.01/rug at Costco and $5.89/rug at Shell a 1/2 mile away. But $4.47/rug and $5.69D2 across from work. Couple places show $3.99/D2 @ cash but most places are at or just over $5/D2

$1.639/Litre in Southwest Saskatchewan last night, not too bad considering the average in the province right now is $1.74. I’m not looking forward to when it hits $2.00

I'm traveling in southern Illinois right now, and surprisingly the diesel is cheaper here than in Missouri! It's $4.79 in Edwards right now.

$4.99/gal here in central Ohio. So long as it's not over double the price of gasoline, it's more economical for me to drive the diesel golf rather than the gasoline truck. Not liking these prices.
