1.9 only turbo diesel non tdi engine code AAZ

1.9 TD 97 vw Jetta
New to me 97 vw Jetta gl with the 1.9 td engine running cold air intake bigger turbo , and boost controller , wondering if anyone on here can help me with learning about my car and the maintaining of it aswell, I tried vwvortex and I was told to come here , please any advice and links to forums about my car would be much appreciated, hoping someone else also has the pre tdi engine

To elaborate a little, your engine pre-dates the TDI design... fueling is controlled entirely mechanically and burns in an indirect combustion chamber... hence IDI: InDirect Injection engine.

You won't find much info here on a TDI forum... the suggestion to check out vwdiesel.net is a good one, since that forum focuses on the older IDI engine.

A little late to the party, but wanted to note that this engine (owned one in a 95 golf) runs on exactly one wire once it is started - the power to the fuel shutoff solenoid. Other than that, the engine requires exactly zero electrical power to run. Makes for an excellent zombie apocalypse car.

Can also make some more power with larger nozzles and changes to the cam profile in the altitude compensator. If you want to go all out, get Giles at performance diesel to rebuild your pump and trick it out.
