Jay sent me the updated firmware, VIM and Nav for my '14 TDI. He was able to ship super fast and all worked great. I wasn't familiar with the steps and didn't do my homework but stumbled through it after some googling. Very pleased!

Thank you. I don't need it shipped I'm good with just links.

Where's all the good folks with that I dealt with before at? I wish I never cleared my PM's.. I remember getting these things done for way cheaper than what people are offering me now. Even getting maps for free and still donating to people afterwards.

I've helped out a handful as well with the firmware for no charge.

Meh this is what I get for staying out of the loop lol

Jay sent the firmware (ISO) 5382.
My RNS 510 684J is working!

Thanks.
And it's probably showing as a 684 Q or R now also!
Amazing how quickly someone in the Ukraine can get their system back!
It's a US vehicle so the 5382 firmware was needed FYI.
Downloading the ISO and burning it is definitely the quickest solution in this case :)
Enjoy the car!

vromav you should change where you are from!

UA is the abbreviation for Ukraine!
UK is the abbreviation for Great Britain!

Dealership

Hate to say it but I'd try the dealership.
I'm not versed in the RCD world but they may have an update available?

When I bought my car, I made the dealer include a map update. They contacted me and told me they were having an issue buying the update DVD as HERE didn't want to sell it on a PO, but instead said the customer needed to purchase it. Disappointed, I came here and found this thread. Jayski hooked me up with an update, which worked awesome (Thanks!), but a few days ago, I received a package in the mail, and it was the update DVD afterall!

Anyway, I know that an image for a fraction of the price is more attractive, but if anybody wants a new original sealed factory update DVD for less than ordering one for yourself, PM me. It's version 8534 (V.12M)

I've got a unit here with a bad hard drive. I've bought the hard drive but was told the original firmware needs to be installed
The sticker says FW Y030 but I can't find that anywhere. Any help ?
Looks like my-gti is down too

Can you take a photo of the top of the RNS and send to me?
I might have the original firmware but want to verify the HW and SW listing on it along with the part number.
Thx

That looks to be a euro version based on the Y030 indicator.
At least the outer case is lol. I'll assume the hardware inside the case matches and someone didn't Frankenstein a unit together.
I had a couple euro firmware updates but that one doesn't ring a bell. I'll take a look on my server files and see if I have anything that might be applicable for your unit.
Did you get that off eBay or a forum?

Bought it from a salvage yard. It was removed from a US spec 2009 Tiguan. It's an early one with a Mute button instead of a Phone button, part number ends in 684 no suffix.

I've also got an E unit. What's the newest sw that can be installed ?

4366 for the E unit. Which I have.
The Y030 from what I could find in a quick search is a czech (Euro) version. I found a couple .cz links talking about it.
Maybe they frankenstein'd one at the end of a model year run or something?
I thought the NAR versions were all numbered SW versions (3969, 4366, 4369, 5382, etc).
I'm probably wrong but I've never seen a NAR unit without a letter after the part number, or with a version like y030

Has anyone had success with a warranty replacement and getting a new manufactured unit with newer hardware and firmware? I'm getting super frustrated with the volume and touch lag even after the firmware update.

Hey Greg, I'm sorry the unit is not responding well for you.
Just a quick question, have you tried the factory reset on it?
Then reload the updates again from scratch?
I'm not sure it will resolve the issue but worth a try if VAG won't assist you?

I did find a menu option to reset settings...did that...is there another factory reset option I missed?

My secret hope is new models are being produced with updated hardware that might address this lag. There have even been a couple times I've tried turning volume up and it lags and then volume goes down...like...huh? If I wiggle it back and forth , slowly turn it and talk nicely to it then it starts working right again.

Yes, if you press and hold SETUP for a second or two, the hidden menu comes up. Select SYSTEM and then FACTORY SETTINGS
I believe that will let your system reset itself.
Just can't recall if you have to load the nav on again after or not?
If it's annoying you that much, is try it if it were my car

How do I tell what version my RNS-510 is?
I know the map is out of date, wondering how I would update it?
Thanks.

Hi, depending on the part number of your unit you can find the version details if you press and hold the SETUP button for about 2-5 seconds. If it works for your unit you can select the VERSION menu option and see the version your system is on.
If that doesn't work, if you have VCDS you can scan and pull the part number and current versions your system is on. Or slide the unit out of the dash, there's a sticker on the top that displays the part number and initial version that it was loaded with at least. You'll need a torx 20/25 to remove the 4 screws holding the unit in place in the dash, I can't recall which it is lol.
The nav map can be updated to ANY RNS510. The current firmware version you have doesn't matter for the NAV update.

I have the most current nav update (V.12M - version 8534) and can mail it to you or you can download from my server if you are looking for a copy.
PM me for details.
I also have the 4366 and 5382 firmware if you need either.

Thanks!
