Safe and protective for an ALH? Seems to be varying opinions of this oil.
Yes. I can't see why anyone could have a valid technical reason why not.Safe and protective for an ALH? Seems to be varying opinions of this oil.
Are you going to elaborate?Yes. I can't see why anyone could have a valid technical reason why not.
It's a synthetic CJ-4 5w40 oil, similar enough to the several other popular ones "we've" been using for 15 years. Delo has been around just as long, but is finally makes its way eastward from the west coast. Are you going to elaborate?

How do you perceive this? Does the car speak to you?My '02 seems to prefer it. It's the only I've used for a couple of years.
I would say a true statement. When buying oil, go by spec, not brand. It's a synthetic CJ-4 5w40 oil, similar enough to the several other popular ones "we've" been using for 15 years. Delo has been around just as long, but is finally makes its way eastward from the west coast.
Yeah, look at the oil VW spec'd for it from the factory!I would say a true statement. When buying oil, go by spec, not brand.
Delo is not spec'ed for my BRM, however, there probably isn't any oil that will keep a BRM from chewing up cams.
Engine code after the PD BEW...What's brm?
Yes, it has a quieter, smoother sound. Plus MPG went up ever so slightly ... as in 0.5 to 1 MPG. I had run the Mobil Delvac 1 or Turbo Diesel Truck 5W40 oils exclusively for the first 12 years. How do you perceive this? Does the car speak to you?

My understanding is that unlike newer TDIs, the ALH is approved for oil that meets ANY ONE OF VW 505, some euro spec, or API CF-4 (or possibly CG-4), provided it is 5W40 synthetic. The Delo in question is 5W40 synthetic meeting CJ-4, which is backward compatible to CG-4 and CF-4 (and even as far back as CD, if you have a MUCH older engine that can still accept 5W40).It's a synthetic CJ-4 5w40 oil, similar enough to the several other popular ones "we've" been using for 15 years.
