Computer auto-reset?

Has anyone else seen this?

I parked the car for a few minutes while I ran an errand last night, and when I returned, the entire MFD computer had reset itself. Trip mileage was 0.0. Clock read 12:00. Very very strange. Car seems to be running normal, but I can't tell what happened.

Hopefully it didn't do anything to my ECU tune. Perplexed and annoyed

Nope nothing to do with the ECU... this happened to me several times, also once in a while the MFD would rapidly flicker. Then the odometer read error and I had to take it in. I ended up needed a software update to the cluster and I bet that is what you need. I don't know why VW has not issued a TSB for this.

Also make sure your battery cables are nice and tight, just in case.

I can't remember exactly, but I think it is 10,000 miles (or, probably, 9,999). It is mentioned in the owner's manual somewhere.

It also resets @ 100 hrs of driving time. Found that out during a long road trip. Not as annoying as a full hard reset.
