04 TDI beetle auto 2 standard swap

Hello I have a 04 Vw beetle 1.9 tdi has I believe 6 speed auto select transmission in it and typical auto 209k miles it went out wanted to swap for manual trans whats the best donor car year or model I found 00 vw 5 speed 2.0 but didn't think it would fit?

You need a diesel ratio transmission, the 2.0 differential is way off.

Is there a certain year range that fits?

04 thru 06 for sure , but I believe the 98 thru 03 is compatible. Stay away from the 98 and 99 as they had ball ends on the shift tower/cables.
