2012 Passat SE TDI DSG

our adjusted value comes to $22,307 dollars for a buyback. If we opt to fix the car our payout comes to $6,207.

To add a wild card we owe approximately 16k on the car, (which we bought one week before the scandal broke).

This means if we let VW buy the car back, we lose the car, pay off the loan, and end up with about $6,307 cash. However if we opt to fix, we can use the $6,207 to pay down the loan to approx $9,793 owed.

The choices are lose a car, get 6k cash, and have to replace the car. OR keep the car and drop the loan down to 9k owed on it, and proceed forward from there. I like the car a lot, but 6k will buy a lot of perfectly good used cars for cash. Its the wifes car so it will be interested to see which way she goes.

I don't think you add 4837 to the base buyback amount. The base buyback amount includes Nada value with the minimum of 5100 dollars settlement.

You don't add the "fix" compensation if you are selling it back to VW.

Total cash and prizes to you - $13,507.00

that red number up there is NOT added to your buy back amount, it is the amount you would be given instead of a buyback if you opt for a fix. your corrected buyback will actually be $12,507 plus your $1k in goodwill stuff.

I have a 2015 VW Golf SEL Wagon, it looks to be around a $28500 value, question besides the reduction in price due to driving more (the car currently has 15K on it) does it make sense to hold the car until the just before May 2018 deadline. It looks to me it will still have the $28.5 K less the extra miles I'd drive over the next couple of years. $28.5K is only 1500 less than I payed for it new a year ago. If this is true I might as well just keep driving it to the deadline before turning it in. I only drive around 10K miles a year.

2015 Manual TDI Golf S
Current Base: $23,586 (sounds like it could change)
Mileage adjustment (assuming OCT): 20,000 - 13,546 = 6,454 = +$510
Minus Manual: - $810
Total Buyback: $23,386

Given that I am being generous with my estimated mileage it looks like I'll be at about what I paid for it. I would hope that they also have some way of including warranties and maintenance plans and such. I like the car but given changes in my commute among other things I think I would probably take it and get a gti if the dealer will work with me or a wrx because why not.
I was looking for an excuse to take it though so I would understand why other 2015 owners would be a bit irked.
