Default Replace Mechatronics unit ??

What is involved in replacing the mechatronics unit ??

Would like to hear from someone that has actually done one.

Just had mine done, and I thought it was very complicated, but after talking to the service manager it sounded like its a pretty simple task.

IE drain it , remove the mech pan on the bottom of the trans, pull the unit out, install new one and adjust and add fluid and new filter etc.

Looking at a photo of one out, it looks very simple.

Can you even order these units ??

Also just read they have to be programmed according to the VIN number ??

idparts.com sells them. Also check boraparts.com they are around $1200 tho. Why do you think you need one? Also some have had luck getting the dealer to replace transmission parts for recall purposes maybe call and check your VIN.... good luck.

Trans dropped out into limp mode, stuck in 1st, no rev.

Dealer ran a check and said needs a new mechatronics unit.
VW America would not offer any help. The dealer gave me a $150 credit.

Ended up being $2350 out the door.
