Default 1998 Jetta Driver side Cv Boot Repair?

So I think what I have here is an inner CV boot that is torn? Can I make the repair is the question... Struts, Alternator etc. type repairs I have no trouble with but I am no mechanic? I have air tools & am no afraid to get dirty. If I took it to a shop what would I expect to pay?

It's not too hard to do. You need a special bit for the 6 bolts to get the axle out and snap ring pliers that expand the ring (if I remember correctly, double check).

For me, the inner CV slipped right off, new boot, regrease, put it back in and all done.

Tim.

Put the car up on ramps wanted to make sure the other side wasn't torn as well... boot looks great problem is I discovered the seal to the transmission on the passenger side seems to be leaking... is that an easy repair?
