WTB: NB Fuel Filter (CAT or other upgrade)
Looking for a fuel filter upgrade for my 2003 New Beetle. CAT, Nicktane or other solutions welcome.
Thanks!
Erick

I've got a Nicktane filter head with a Caterpillar 2µm fuel filter in both my cars. Much better than stock and no &@$#ING thermostatic tee anymore.

Did you use Nick's NLA bracket or another solution?
I'm thinking I've gonna need to fab something up myself since Nick sold the last of his slow-moving NB stock and the DG head isn't available anymore either.

I used the mounting bracket what came with the filters; looking back it through my emails it appears that I did order one of the NB kits. From what I remember about installing it, you should be able to use the Jetta/Golf kit and just put the long clamps around the stock bracket and the filter. Also the filter kits are now CHEAPER than when I bought mine in 2010!
Weird, I didn't know that Lubespecialist was also not selling Cat filter kits anymore either.

How about the Dietzl Mod. It's DanG144 inspired.
Part # 4770 from Napa it's about $36.00 plus fittings $3.00
I just trim the mount portion of the filter base off.

Looks like that should fit in the tight NB spot, maybe with some trimming. A few online sites have it for $21-24.
I'm headed out of town until after Memorial day, but will give it a shot soon!
Thanks!
