Default Road trip - OH to CA to OH.

On may 22nd I'm leaving with the better half for a trip out west to visit my brother and sister's families. Plan is to return to Ohio June 9-10.

If anyone along the route would like to get together for a beer, have their ecu tuned, or hit up some destinations/activities with us, has a suggested stop, route change, etc, post up!

This is the route we're tentatively planning on taking

This is my pooch that will be traveling with us

Lastly, if anyone would like to offer up a floor space, I'd be happy to repay the favor as every little bit of expense saved helps on a trip this big.

The L to M leg will pass within 2 miles of where I live, I'd be happy to meetup for food on June 9 or 10 if I can get the time off from work.

Have you ever been to Sante Fe, NM?

It is just a few miles north of Albuquerque. The plaza is wonderful with a very neat museum for southwest history.

How long will you be in southern California?

No I haven't, I'll suggest it to the better half. She's in charge of the route planning since my free time is zero.

Planning to be in SoCal for 7-10 days.

There is lots to do in Las Vegas (even if you don't gamble). We have about 6 Cirque du Soleil shows, plus Blue Man Group, Jersey Boys, Penn & Teller, etc. If we knew when you were coming through town we could probably plan a little GTG. There are many TDI people in town including vwmikel (TDTuning) and many others. Some of us are even Ohio natives (I grew up in Cincinnati). Sounds like a nice trip.

Have Fun!

Don

Actually, we're planning on crashing on VWMike's couch/floor for a night or two haha. I'm definitely down for a mini gtg while I'm there! I'll ask the girlfriend what dates we're planning to be in vegas.

Matt,

Been to Roswell, White Sands, Alamogordo, Carlsbad Caverns (2x). Santa Fe is my favorite. Been there in all 4 seasons. Roswell is a kick, Alamogordo is educational, the Caverns are great. Santa Fe has been the capitol city since 1610, 3 years after Jamestown. Did you realize how old it is? Most people have no idea.

You might also want to look at Mesa Verde National Park in the 4 corners area. But time is limited on any trip.

If you took B_C_D route a bit south, you could go through Dallas/Ft Worth where three of the best TDI Guru's live and work (Steve Glover - mtbr297, Marin-Jetta_97 & Brian Hogue-Alphasenior). Plus, you could sample some Texas BBQ!

Don't miss Arches National Park in Moab, UT. Take US 191 South from where it splits off I70 (Exit 182, Crescent Junction). After touring the park, take UT128 back to I70.

What part of Cincinnati you from? I'm from the East side....Milford/Loveland areas. I lived in Denver and currently in Houston....I will say Houston so far is my least favorite....but it's a career with possibilities and great benefits for the time being. I'm working on going back to school and then transferring with work to Pennsylvania and then getting into the Aviation field and trying to relocate to Alaska....I have always wanted to live there!

This is kinda off-topic, so I'll be brief. I grew up on the west side (first 18 years), then I moved around a lot - living in Southern Indiana, Connecticut, Louisiana, Columbus, OH, and then back to Cincinnati where I lived in Pleasant Ridge for 24 years. Now I live in Las Vegas. I move to wherever my jobs takes me.

Have Fun!

Don
