Default Oil capacity of A3 TDI vs Jetta TDI

I have a 2012 JEtta TDI and the spec sheet online shows it as holding 5.8 quarts of oil.

That link can be found here

http://www.vw.com/en/models/jetta/tr...9a51b33cd7e5ca

The audi A3 TDI here shows it as 4.2 liters here.

http://models.audiusa.com/a3/detaile...ions?engine=51

Which is correct? I thought these were the same engines?

The 2012 A3 holds 4.2 quarts (4.0 liters). That car has the CBEA engine. The 2012 Jetta TDI has the CJAA revision of the same engine, but it holds 4.3L (4.5 quarts). The spec sheet on the VW site is just plain WRONG. Go by what the owners manual states, not by what the website states.

Thanks for the info. Now of course I have to ask what is the difference in CBEA and CJAA versions of the engines?

There are a bunch of minor differences, and I have no idea why VW switched from the CBEA to the CJAA in 2010, whereas Audi stayed with the CBEA.

The main differences that I'm aware of are the oil capacities (no idea why the CJAAs was increased) and the way the DPF is connected to the rest of the exhaust system.

Specific details are available here: http://www.myturbodiesel.com/forum/f...etta-tdi-2880/
