Except that we are looking for bottles in the 4 - 8 fl. oz. range. Since they said that motor oil bottles could be used, I checked the code on one - 2 (HDPE)

PS bottles have graduated markings. It's not difficult to pour out 4-6 oz. by eye and it's not gonna hurt if you end up with a little more or less. Anyways.

Disperses the water throughout the fuel (no droplets). E-Z Diesel is a pretty advanced additive compared to products like Howes.

Default Bought some Lucas to use bottle for PS, bought bigger bottle b/c it worked so well.

Bought a little bottle of Lucas few weeks ago. Partly out of curiosity partly to obtain a lil bottle to dispense PS DK.

Lucas only = very smooth running and better mpg than PS. Lucas + PS = seems a bit less smooth (still better than no add.) and mpg took a hit vs Lucas only.

Going to run Lucas only again next tank, and more than likely save the PS for every few tanks.

I've tried Lucas on both the TDi and CTD and have had my mileage suffer...no more for me!

Link to plastic coding data:

http://www.ask.com/wiki/Resin_identi...code?qsrc=3044

Generally speaking, #2 HDPE is not especially solvent resistant, and over time can become "saturated". Still a pretty decent additive container.

#5, Polypropylene is better in it's resistance to solvents and aromatics and is the better choice.

Sometimes mfg's will specify a cheap plastic bottle and have the inside "treated" to give short-term solvent resistance. That may be why you see a #7 on a bottle, as if it is a "mixed" compound it has to use that designation.

i'm just going to run with the extra bottles provided in my gallon kit of XPD (i like the kit cause it comes with a hand pump, and it makes me feel like a pimp). to combat the mess that the opti-lube bottle likes to make on its way to the fuel neck, i've ordered a 24 pack of devilbiss dekups disposable funnels. $7.99 for 24 funnels (or $12.94 shipped to my door). so, for a bit north of 50 cents all-in a fill up, i figure i'm pretty well covered.

of course i'm probably wrong. i usually am.

I often use Red Line Diesel Fuel Catalyst as one of my additives that comes in 12 oz containers marked off in 1 oz intervals. The intervals are not exact but close enough. I save the empty containers and mix up my additive brew several at a time. I carry three containers in the side pocket of my 2006.5 Jetta in box that keeps them from falling over ready for my subsequent fillups. Some of those containers are now probably over 5 years old and doing fine.
