Default D24 intake manifolds!

Hi all. I am looking to see if there is any interest in d24 intake manifolds modded to fit the TDI. These manifolds have a 3" plenum and long smooth equal-length runners.

A couple years back I adapted one for my ALH and loved it...so I bought up the other ones I could find. These will be cleaned, cut, welded, and "D" ported to match the tdi intake ports. The inlet can be made on either the driver or passenger side.

I am looking to get $350 for a finished manifold.

honestly I would love to see a before and after dyno to see exactly what gains it yields... obviously its relative to other mods and fueling.

An underfueled engine would probably see no gains. An overfueled (smokey) car would see noticable gains due to improved airflow and more complete combustion.

Personally, I dont like a smokey car. My car already had more airflow than fuel when I installed this manifold so I didnt notice much of a gain. But, now I can push more fuel before i get smoke. It obviously flows much better than a stock alh or even a PD manifold.

I think this would really compliment a ported head with cam (which I plan on doing).

I am interested, but will your set up work with this turbo intake pipe:

http://www.idparts.com/catalog/produ...roducts_id=981

Obviously I will need to adjust the mounting points for the OMI, but I just want to make sure there is enough clearance between the intake and firewall and no massive kink from the MAF to the inlet of the OMI.

Thanks,

I've been looking for an upgraded IM for my car. The PD130/150 IM is the most common upgrade out there. Any idea or thoughts on performance gains on this unit? I know it's tough to say because every car is modded differently.

What differences have you noticed in drivability between the stock IM and your D24 IM?

I did not notice a big difference... the reason being I was already underfueled when I installed the manifold. Since I already had enough air vs fuel... more air didnt change anything.

Does your car smoke when you accelerate hard? Then you would more likely see improvement from one of these. Honestly, I think its something you should do to improve airflow AFTER head porting/cam upgrade. I think the head ports are a bigger chokepoint than the stock manifold.

I would like to invest in some dyno tests, however, I dont have enough manifolds to make it feasible. These suckers are hard to find.

Im not 100% sure but I would say probably not. using this manifold will require some tinkering/custom work if you want to use the stock airbox. I know others have done it so it is possible.

I have a totally different intake which parallels the turbo-to-FMIC pipe and has the air filter behind the passenger side bumper vent.

These arent a quick plug and play manifold like the PD ones are.

I can make it either passenger or driver side inlet. The unmodded d24 manifolds are open on both ends so I can make it inlet on either side.

The current ones I have are not modded to work on a tdi yet...I am waiting until someone wants one before I make it for this reason specifically. I will make it to the buyers request.
