Default P2102 and P2106 Faults -- Throttle Performance

Can someone help me with the P2012 and P2106 Faults on my 2005 Passat TDI?

I believe it is the EGR module, but I don't want to spend $300 until I know for sure.

The EGR valve does actuate when I put voltage (9v battery) across the solenoid.

However, when doing this EGR valve test, I am not able to see any changes in resistance across the Pins 1, 2 and 3 -- which I believe are for a sensor to report the position of the EGR valve.

So, I believe the EGR sensor is bad, but I don't know the operation of this sensor, nor do I have another 'known good' sensor to compare the operation to.

Can someone let me know how the sensor works, or what their sensor reads when the valve is in the open and closed states?

Thank You,
