New Audi A6 Avant debuts with 313hp 3.0 TDI
There's a new Audi A6 Avant. It's pretty:
And there's not just a 2.0 TDI with 177hp and a 3.0 TDI with 204 or 245hp - it debuts with a new version of the 3.0 TDI, with a twin turbo setup and 313hp! Hooked up to a 8-speed automatic, not a 7-speed DSG like the 245hp version.

New TDI Engine: 313 horsepower V6 TDI
Audi unveiled the A6 Avant today and along came the long-awaited 313 horsepower two stage twin-turbo 3 liter V6 TDI with 313 horsepower. Haven't seen torque figures yet but I expect something around 469 lb-ft.
Unfortunately it doesn't look like the new Avant will be coming to America and I don't see the twin-turbo replacing the singly turbo V6 TDI in the states either. My best guess is that I could come on the A8 if that gets a TDI.

Don't get too excited guys, the US is NOT getting the Avant. If the article in Automobile magazine is correct, like so many other cars available in a wagon in Europe, the US is only getting the sedan version of the new A6. Audi is joining BMW on the bandwagon of thinking that we only want SUVs and crossovers.

Anybody knows what's the percentage of wagon sales for the last generation A6 in North America? In Germany the wagon accounts for 75% of A6 sales.

The North American market sales number's for wagons by Germany's finest is hardly compeling. My dailey driver of ten years was a MY95.5 Audi UrS6 wagon - one of the great's. Audi USA imported less than 450 UrS6 wagons that year as the freakin USA Audi dealership couldn't sell a $50K wagon with a manual. Horse's behind I tells ya...
The UrS6 wagon with a 993tt/A8 brake upgrade and an RS2 manifold to name a few of the enhancements made the S6 a uber stealth ski wagon for Colorado.
Audi USA are you listening.... just think you could prolly sell at least 500 Avants...
IIRC, the MY2005 Audi Allroad products carried $7,500 each in trunk money so to intice the NA Audi dealership's to buy. I almost bought/ordered a 4.2 Allroad but without forced induction I choked. (the 2.7tt V6 by that time had the bad reputaion for turbo issues - ever see the out of warranty cost when the turbo blows? Remember the turbos oil spewing damage is up stream of the exhaust cat's etc. $10 grand is not uncommon.)

Kelly Moss here in Madison fixes a lot of these. The most cost effective way to fix the twin turbos is to drop the transmission.....For the really buggered you can mod them and tune them to 500 hp at the wheels without a lot of issue. Their master tech has a 98' A4Q with thins motor in it....don't get into a drag race......
I'd kill to have one of these and would ante up in a second the $60K for one.
