I was using Castrol TXT but am currently using Schaeffer's. My mechanic checked the cams at 80k and all was good.

Amsoil European Car Formula Synthetic 5W-30 Motor Oil (AEL) for me. It's VW 504.00/507.00 rated. I've had good luck with Amsoil in many applications for almost 40 years.

Wow. That would make you just about their first customer.

You do seem to like the product though, as fully 28% of all your posts here so far are product endorsements for it.

Wow! The first customer for Amsoil. Maybe I should get a award. Below is my list of cars using their oil. What brand of oil do you risk you car collection to? I don't sell the stuff I just use it. Sorry if I thought this site was for folks that were car people and wanted information on personal experiences. Sorry if I haven't contributed by sending photos of my car or my MPG....

But shilling a product is different than just mentioning it in passing.

Something's not right here. I say I use Amsoil and I'm shilling. Saying I'm using Mobile One is not. Sounds like Big Oil has a lot of influence on this board. I'm not shilling I just have used Amsoil successfully for many years and i said so. I was one of the first users of Mobile One and it cost me a camshaft. It's improved now, thank goodness. What's the complaint with Amsoil? I need to know, I don't want to hurt my cars. I only want to use what's best....
