Default Remote window operation with VDS Pro, now featuring 98 NB!

OK, I've been doing a lot of remote window mods lately and printed out a post from the Passat World Forums. It contains a nearly complete list of CCM part numbers and what addresses should be changed and to what. It can be a little tricky since there appears to be a number of CCMs with the same part number but with different values at the addresses you make changes at. General rule of thumb seems to be to subtract 8 from the values for 1C0 CCMs. So for example, if the 3 values you are changing read 138, change them to 130. Earlier 1J0 CCMs aren't as straightforward. This post will help greatly with those!

Anyway, I will copy the post from Passat World here since it appears to be the most complete list available and has been invaluable to me. I also experimented with JetPuf's '98 New Beetle at one of Andrew's epic Bay Area GTGs and found the values that work for those cars. I recently discovered that this also works for the '98 NBs with the banjo remote and not just those who've upgraded to the switch blade key, ala JetPuf.

Anyway, if you haven't read the entire procedure in other posts, I will repost it here.

Once you've got VDS Pro running and your cable connected to the car and computer, follow these instructions to login to the CCM:

Enter "46"
Enter "11" (login)
Login code is 19283
use 26 to read the values at a specific address (depends on what part number CCM you're working with).

For example, most 1C0 CCMs you need to read the values at the following addresses:
04361
04362
04363

You only need to write down the very first value.

Once you know what the CCM is set to currently, you can then proceed to change the values.

Enter "27" and that will get you to the screen to change an individual value.

So let's say you read a value of 138 at address 04361, look up the part number of the CCM you're working with here and also match it up with the original value you recorded and see what you're supposed to change it to.

If you read 138 at address 04361, once you've entered "27" to write a new value, enter the adress 04361, I use the down arrow to get to the field to change the value, enter 130, hit enter. Then you'll have to hit 27 again to write to the next address.

Anyway, here's the list!

1998 New Beetle Owners

This is my own addition, I figured this out after a little trial and error on JetPuf's car. I also confirmed it works no matter if you have the switchblade remote or the original banjo remote!

I tried this on a golf tonight, having done my old Passat years ago no problem, but it will login, says "login ok", but I never get option 26 available. Any ideas?

Matt, thanks for the post, but that info is from here and was posted in 2006, a year before it was re-posted on the Passat Forums

Yeah, but it doesn't change the facts. The original thread is still older than his post so I've got that beat by 4 years.
