Just filled Liath and paid $3.999/gal at a Speedway station in Crook (Cook) County. Generally, I fillup in the next County over because the taxes are lower, in fact, alot of the stations there have signs saying "no Cook County taxes"! I used to save 15-25¢ per gallon just by crossing the county line. However, last time I filled up at the station over there it was $4.099/gal so either they raised their taxes or the stations are cashing in!

I found a station right near my home (near Stony, TX) that's the cheapest I've seen in the DFW area. Just yesterday, I filled up for $3.879/gal. Most of the stations I've been seeing have ranged from $3.97 to $4.06/gal.

not trying to sound rude here, but here is my personal opinion on this.
I own 3 vehicles.
06 Jetta TDi
90 Mitsu Eclipse 2.0 NT
and the kicker
05 Ford F350 Powerstroke.
The powerstoke is my DD and the Jetta is my wife's DD
Paying $130 to fill up my truck once a week is painful. Paying $45 to top of the Jetta every week and a half, well, after the truck it feels like the pineapple shrunk a whole lot.
It could be worse so please be happy that you guys have some of the most fuel efficient cars on the planet. I'm sure happy.
P.S. - The Eclipse is my rebuilder. I'm restoring a riced out junker to be my DD back and forth to work. When it's done, which should be soon, I'll be driving it a lot more.

Has anyone successfully run their TDI on used-filtered transmission fluid without problems?

Paid $3.30 at a Shell in Foxboro, MA yesterday. Reason it was so cheap was that Stop'nShop set up a rewards card deal with Shell. The more points you accrue, the more you get off at the pump. This is great since prior to this there were only Stop'nShop stations available and they didn't sell diesel. Heads up to those of you in NE!

Thanks for this info. I'm always getting rewards points for 'gasoline' and didn't know there was a way to redeem them on diesel.
