I had been to the past 2 IAAs in 2005 and 2007, but missed this one due to family visiting, even though I was in Frankfurt during the period of the show. Looks like I missed a good one.

They had good stuff at the booth. Two sweet special edition Golf wagons with 2-tone leather interior. Bluemotion versions of everything (Tiguan, Caddy, CC...)

Can that be right? Why would they have the EPA-cycle FE numbers?
Bring the stinking Polo variant over here!!

64.2 mpg American and 114 g/km doesn't compute. Must be Imperial. Must be European cycle.

I haven't heard anything about the tiguan bluemotion. And i followed autobild's IAA coverage very carefully. Do you have anymore info? Was it a 1.6 liter TDI? Euro 6 compliance?
Edit;,
Just checked vw's official Deutsche website and your right, there is a 140 hp TDI Bluemotion model of the tiguan. Very impressive. Why haven't I even heard of it? None of the major automagazines even speak of it.
6.3 liters on 100 km in the city
4.8 liters on 100 km on the hwy
5.3 liters combined
Very Impressed!
My vote is that vw bring this one to Kanada.

Ah, you bunch of snow eaters already have a great appreciation for VW diesels. Bring it to the states.

The E-UP shown in Frankfurt could go on sale in the US as a 2014 MY. The Golf R is also very likely to come to the US in the near future, but the price mentioned in the article is useless. Think about half of that figure.

Well it did say EPA rated...and one imperial gallon is 1.2 US gallons. But 53 mpgs from a passat still sounds wrong.

And, if you're worried that the E-Up may be too quiet for pedestrians to hear it coming, this concept version can be made to sound like an Audi R8 by switching it into loudspeaker mode.
|
Aha..I love it!
