Default Asheville NC GTG June 5,6

WE ARE NOW OFFICAILLY BACK TO A FRIDAY, SATURDAY TWO DAY EVENT FOR NORMAL GTG STUFF AND TUNING FROM ROCKETCHIP. JEFF WILL BE IN ON FRIDAY ABOUT NOON, TO START TUNING. DOORS OPEN AT 8:00 AM EACH DAY. WE STAY TILL YOU GO HOME!!!

GTG Location
Griffin Waste Services
402 Old Leicester Hwy.
Asheville NC 28806

Landon Grindstaff 828-273-2241
Chad Griffin 828-712-7761

We are having a GTG in Asheville, NC on the weekend of June 5th & 6th. We are looking to make it a 2 day event if enough interest is shown. If not, it will be a 1 day event on Saturday the 6th. Jeff from Rockechip has confirmed he will be with us for 1 or more days depending on the need. I suspect that Peter from TDIparts.com will be here as well. I have talked with Franko6 from St. Louis and he is wanting to come out as well. I Just got confirmation from Aaron (BleachedBora) at boraparts.com that he will be with us on Saturday. All of these vendors will bring stuff to the GTG free of shipping for you. Just let them know the stuff you will be needing.

We are wanting to do one of the days as a dyno day at a local dyno shop. They rent their shop by the day. If we can get 20 confirmed dyno customers signed up then the cost would be $50.00 per run.

PM or post up with your interest for tuning from Jeff (give specifics of what you need) and your desire for a dyno run. I will keep the first main post updated.

Count me in Landon, right now I am tentative off Thursday and Friday -- but a certain for that Saturday. I'll know for sure at the end of May if I get the Thursday Friday.

I'm down for the dyno if I can ever get the time to do my clutch. My original dyno was 171/300 on everything in my signature [including stock clutch]. Since then I've put on a PD150 intake manifold, 2.5" exhaust [replacing stock pipe, at my first dyno I had a Flowmaster muffler and no cat], and custom upper IC pipe.

If you need any help setting anything up either day I'll be more than happy to head over the mountains

I am there. Probably will be up for some help on installing a skid plate, swaping rear springs, and tranny flush. Definitely will bring the cookie and whatever else. Thanks for hosting this event

Thanks -

Possible dyno run on the Passat. Time to see what these mods are doing.

So far I'm planning to be there. No tune, maybe a dyno. (Speaking of which, I wonder which is better: dyno at the GTG for comparison to other TDIs, or dyno locally for comparison to future dynos of the same car? Decisions, decisions...)

Dang. Had been hoping to make this GTG to meet some folks in my new home of N.C. but I will be attending my friend's wake, ahem, I mean his bachelor party prior to him getting married. Anyways, I hope to make the next one. Have fun all.

I'll be there and happy to help with whatever I can. Don't need a dyno or rocketchip but I'm sure I can find a few jobs to take care of between now and then seeing as I'll hit 200k miles next month!

I'm planning on being there for Saturday at least! I'm making my way to the final rounds of interviews so things are looking more and more promising for RC3... but I can't commit yet! I'd like to at least put in a racepipe and some guages though if you guys wouldn't mind helping out.

I'm 100% positive you can join this GTG! The more the merrier! I went to my first one last November and this is a group of the most friendly people I have ever met!
As far as places to see- I have one recommendation for a place to drive if you can make it down to Saluda, NC (my hometown). Check out Highway 176 between Tryon and Saluda. It's a winding hillclimb where your diesel torque will really shine! TONS of fun! The speed limit is 55 all the way up but I guarantee you won't be able to make it all the way going that fast!
