overheating while idling for a long time

how can i tell if it's pressurized? if it's not, what kind of issues?

is it different than other cars? i'd sure hope my mechanic isn't that challenged.

If you go the route of replacing the thermostat, it shares a cavity in the block with the waterpump impeller. You can reach through with your finger and try to spin it on the shaft; any movemet or wobbling = pump is bad. If that is the case look to do your timing belt sooner than later.

changed the thermostat. turned out to be the water pump impeller. goes to show the importance of finding a good mechanic. thanks everyone
