this is when the coolant leaks into the level sensor plug then goes down the wiring harness and well you get the idea.
the fix is to make a small hole on the lower side of the plug which allows any possible fluid to drip out.

Coolant migration is very, very evil. 2002 cars seem to be the worst.

or you can just remove the gasket/seal from the elec connector
or you can get a new coolant bottle

yep! hot paperclip in some pliers, make the hole in the corner of the connector, make sure not to pierce the coolant bottle ;)

Is there a way to prevent coolant migration?
SyntorX9000, aka, a Motorola Syntor X9000 mobile 2-way radio? HEHE. :D It seems there are many radio guys on TDIclub. I am one too (N1DAS).

I highly recommend doing the mod that people have described. Making a drain hole in the connector plug housing in the reservoir jug gives any leaking coolant a safe way out instead of forcing it to wick itself along the wiring and eventually find its way to the instrument cluster and cause all sorts of problems there including fry the cluster.

The mod helps prevent the migration problem plus buys you time to replace the reservoir jug after you notice the mess a leak would make if a leak were to develop at the connector.

Good luck.
