I guess someone needed to start this.

This is a month by month competition. Every time you make an entry it will be added up and recorded together according to the fuel type and car/year you are driving.
THIS IS NOT an individual tank competition (or a partial tank competition for that matter).

Entries will be accepted until August 5, but remember, report tanks FILLED IN July.

Entry Format:
--------------------------------------------------------------------
Driver:
Miles:
Gallons:
Model Year:
Model:
Tranny:
Fuel Type:

You are allowed to put more than one fill up in a post, so long as each fill up conforms to format.

MPG: (optional since I will calculate it automatically anyway)
(anything else you would like to add)
--------------------------------------------------------------------
Hint on entering your data - after the colon ( ":") put a space.

US GALLONS AND MILES

TRANNY TYPES:
(x) A = x speed automatic
(x) M = x speed manual *
DSG = direct-shift gearbox
CVT = continuously variable transmission
* if you have swapped in a taller 5th gear please noted this (ie: 5M w/.681)

FUEL TYPES:
Bx = biodiesel - x is the percentage of bio
Biodiesel use equal to, or more than B20, will be indicated in GREEN.
ULSD / LSD / D2 = normal petroleum based diesel
Also please note if it's winterized

- please note if you are using a fuel additive (ie: ULSD +PS)
- - Power Service (PS); Stanadyne (ST); Redline (RL)

Posts not in format will not be tallied / corrected

Sorry for the delay.

Please let me know if there are any issues.

Another so-so tank in terms of MPG, but again I got over the 900 mile barrier by risking the reserve. Trip computer claims 67.4 imperial mpg, and the reserve light came on at 845.4 miles. Several long + fast journeys (with passengers) were without any special techniques being used, but during the last half of the tank I started experimenting with engine-off P&G which took the indicated MPG from 61 to 67.

The weather was generally warm and conducive for good mileage, traffic good also, but circumstances meant time was short.

This tank I ran a bit harder than usual for me and added power sevice halfway through. Probably 1/4th of the tank was with a/c. Now, the next tank I am implementing some mileage techniques to see if I can break into the 55mpg/825 mile range.:) Wish me luck.

Mostly 2-lane road trip; 90 degree heat with AC on; average speed 45 mph (mostly country highways - no interstate); loaded with three adults and two children, and a full trunk of luggage; tires at 40 PSI; DSG in the "D" mode all the way (can't think of any more significant factors).

Best mileage I'd ever gotten on a given trip so far. Most of my driving is urban/suburban commuting (where I average 33 MPG), so this mileage was a significant achievement for me.

Tank1 was normal driving 47.1MPG
Tank2 was a vacation, I was on my way to 49MPG but the way back was a bad head wind 40.5MPG over 280miles. It was also hilly but that didn't hurt as much. 46.4MPG

Topped off the tank to get a real vented tank after I had a 2.5" down pipe and straight exhaust installed. Running it real hard testing things, so no attempt a driving for economy.

47.65mpg

Probably 60/40 highway/city driving and mostly mild weather. Only ran the AC a couple of times on highway trips. Filling my tires to 44psi has helped a lot. I had been getting a reliable 44-45 prior to that.
We're heading to TN next weekend and it would be perfect to hit a 50+ tank but my girlfriend is with me so that means no hypermiling and AC all the way.
I thinks she's worth a few mpgs.... ;)

Blah. I hate tanks like this. Oh well...the commute time problem may have been solved. I've been laid off, effective July 31.

For the record, I convert the litres I fill to US gallons (3.785)
I may be driving a mix of ULSD and B20 fillups depending on availability

I just got 903 km on 53.55 L, works out to 47.83mpg, could have gotton much more if I slowed down, "lead foot" 120 to 130 kph, flooring it off the start.
Guess what, it's not even a TDI. 95 golf IDI with 360,000KM
Before that fill up I got 759km on 40.03L do the math thats 53.3mpg
