This is a month by month competition. Every time you make an entry it will be added up and recorded together according to the fuel type and car/year you are driving.
THIS IS NOT an individual tank competition (or a partial tank competition for that matter). Since this is TDICLUB, no gasser's please.

Entries will be accepted until February 5, but remember, report tanks FILLED IN JANUARY.

Entry Format:
--------------------------------------------------------------------
Driver:
Miles:
Gallons:
Model Year:
Model:
Tranny:
Fuel Type:

You are allowed to put more than one fill up in a post, so long as each fill up conforms to format.

MPG: (optional since I will calculate it automatically anyway)
(anything else you would like to add)
--------------------------------------------------------------------
Hint on entering your data - after the colon ( ":") put a space.

US GALLONS AND MILES

TRANNY TYPES:
(x) A = x speed automatic
(x) M = x speed manual *
DSG = direct-shift gearbox
CVT = continuously variable transmission
* if you have swapped in a taller 5th gear please noted this (ie: 5M w/.681)

FUEL TYPES:
Bx = biodiesel - x is the percentage of bio
Biodiesel use equal to, or more than B20, will be indicated in GREEN.
ULSD / LSD / D2 = normal petroleum based diesel
Also please note if it's winterized

- please note if you are using a fuel additive (ie: ULSD +PS)
- - Power Service (PS); Stanadyne (ST); Redline (RL)

Posts not in format will not be tallied / corrected

I'm starting this month's to ensure what happened last month doesn't happen again. It does take more time than people think.

As I posted in last months competition, I aired up my tires to 43 psi (44 max rating). I drove the entire family (5 people & luggage) about 290 miles to the in-laws for a post Christmas visit. Coming back, we had all the same people and luggage, plus Christmas presents for the boys. I was amazed how the Corolla swallowed all the luggage and gifts into the trunk. It took some tetris style packing but it all went in.

Speeds were always equal to the speed limits. Speed limits were about 25% @ 55 mph, 50% @ 65 mph, and 25% at 70 mph. The Corolla was not driven 'around town' once we arrived at the in-laws.

I was surprised to break into the 40's. Airing up the tires had a much greater impact than I would have suspected it might.

This is it for January - very little A/C - 30% at 70+ mph. I am at 30k so the car is everything VW advertised. Unlike last year at this time I was never exceeding 62 mph and I have the same average. I now drive with flow always posted speed limit.

About 54MPG.
Commuting 50 miles each way, almost exclusively freeway. Driving along the flow of traffic among the Right lanes, average 58-65MPH. Other than that, not much consideration of driving efficiently.
Temps on the tank are usually around freezing in the morning and 40-50 for my evening trip. A couple mornings have been in the teens.
Traffic had been very light during the holiday.

JyRO that's a good job with your Corolla! My Dunlop tires are rated 44PSI cold, I am running a bit higher. Hard as rock.

Mostly highway with one run right into the bowels of Pittsburgh. The mileage may not be all due to winter blend diesel. After I filled I checked the tires and found 30/32 front and 34/36 rear. We see what the next tank does with 37 psi front and 42 psi rear.

A lot of snow and cold on this tank, my current tank is looking much better with the warm spell here in the midwest.

Interesting my lifetime is the same as the average at 42.6 for A5 DSG- this week I am 42.57. But if you drop my first 5k for breakin the last 23k my average is 43.2.

no blue screen - you have a lifetime at 46.6 with a DSG. I started my records at 34 miles and my breakin was kinda hard on fuel - I thought 42.5 was good for a lifetime but apparently not if you have a clear 8% advantage. I am currently at 28,716 mi 42.57 mpg ave. Today it was hot so the A/C back on my 45.9 monthy will drop next tank.

Cold then warm then cold again here in the DC area. Checked the tires and sure enough they were down about 2 psi all around. I noticed this 2/3rd through this tank. Decided to go with 44 PSI all around and noticed an immediate improvement on the scangauge daily averages. Was at 39 PSI front 42 PSI rear. Had 3 or more good runs at WOT or real close on this tank, 80% driving for economy 15% normal driving and 5% drivin like I stole it.:D I wonder if the PS can settle to the bottom of the tank, when I drove home today before this fill I was getting 50 MPG instead of the usual 45 or 46. This is my 2nd best tank I'll get 700 sooner or later.

wjdell, yeah I have been tracking it for the last 11k or so. I didn't start right away like you, but even in the beginning I was averaging like 43-45 mpg on a tank....my lowest was on a trip to Florida where I was flying up 95 on the way back...and I averaged 38mpg. I have about 1k less miles than you do right now. I have to say that I drive for economy about 95% of the time....sometimes I get stuck in traffic which hurts my mpg...but what can you do.
