If the chips are fuel economy related I am interested in learning more.

Oh, it most definitely IS fuel economy related. I haven't hit 50+mpg as often since having installed .205's and RC2. But for the sizeable power boost, I've actually only gone down about 2mpg. Not bad. If you don't have too much fun, your mileage can go with nozzles and/or chip.
I would recommend to anyone considering getting chipped that you make sure you're there hovering around the RC guys when the list first gets started in the morning, to get on the list early, and to be prepared to do a little pushing to keep your place on the list. I was there right when the GTG started, and missed the start of the list-making. I ended up #12 or so, about 2/3 of the way down the list as it got filled up. As the day progressed, other people were bumped ahead of me and a few others. Eventually Marty closed the place up and the last 4 of us drove off and met in a hotel parking lot to get chipped at about midnight. When I was finally got-around-to, it took 5-10 minutes to get me RC2, through the OBD port.
I was a little ticked to have waited 16 hours, from the time the GTG started until Marty (nicely ) kicked us out, only to have the chip job take 10 minutes. I could have been out at a decent time in the evening if the chipping list had been respected.

I think I can get together enough money for a chip before the GTG. Hopefully some new injectors too!
Count me in

Jeff: you'll be so busy, that Sandy will have to bring you your food again!! I'm a tentative for the wife's Passat for RC2, if I can manage to get 2 cars there! Does RC2 delete the EGR??

Pencil me in! I think I would like to go with RC2 and PP357s, unless someone has a better suggestion for me.

RC3 or ? and injectors and boost valve. I e-mailed Jeff towards the end of last week. The injectors will be easy. Take the set out that's in the car and drop in another set with the nozzles already installed on them.

Any MB diesel head going to be there that might be able to remove old injectors and replace nozzles and pop test new the injectors? Just found new MB nozzles for $28 each (before discount) at the dealer is why I ask.

I googled "mercedes diesel get-together" and didn't get a get-together, but got this instead, which might be helpful:
