Here it is:

Post your results like this:

Driver:
Miles:
Gallons:
Model Year:
Model:
Tranny:
Fuel type:

Please put a space between the colon (":") and your values.
Example of a "good" entry -

Driver: scooperhsd
Miles: 2000
Gallons: 50
Model Year: 2000
Model: New Beetle
Tranny: 4A
Fuel type: D2

feel free to put whatever you want above and below the "data block" - I often put text for climate / use conditions, tanks MPG, overall for month to date, etc.

tranny values - let's get some standardization going - please use 4A, 5M, 5A, DSG, or CVT ,others if you use <forward gears><type>

Fuel type as well - D2 (or D1) for petroleum, B for biodiesel, followed by percent. The Biodiesel category will be used those who use >B20 for at least one tank - I Will TRY to separate D2 and B entries for a given car, but no promises.

Your assistance in following the above requests will be greatly appreciated.

Notes for October - MrErlo has graciously offered to do the October Contest. He'll be posting the starting thread before the weekend. If anybody else would like to give this a try, please PM me so we can coordinate this so we don't have multiple contest threads going.

A big thanks to John for carrying on all those months alone on the contest.

Edit Oct 1 - Deadline for September entries will be 2359 EDT 4 October

Winners -
Overall winner - krousdb

best gasser - krousdb

Best diesel - GDR703

Best Biodiesel Lug_Nut

Best Beetle - Ernie Rogers

Best Golf - GDR703

Best Jetta - daBooj

Best Jetta Wagon Brock_from_WI

Oh yea, I finally met my summer goal of exceeding 1,000 miles:

Driver: Hot Georgia
Miles: 1003.4
Gallons: 13.4
Model Year: 2004
Model: Civic Hybrid
Tranny: CVT
Fuel type: 87 Regular
MPG: 74.9
Additives: none
Speed: About 55 average
Road: 95% highway
Average trip: 47 miles
Beginning ODO 74,823
Ending ODO 75,827
Terrain: Very hilly to/from Atlanta to/from rural N. GA
PSI: 51PSI all the way around (Cold sidewall Max)
Tire: Factory LRR Dunlops (About ready for new skins)
Oil: 0-20w Honda dealer stuff
A/C: None

This was really tough to do. About 140 miles was through the drenching rains from the tropical storm way off shore to the East and at that point really doubted I'd do it. I took it slower in the rain which made this possible.
Whew! I'm ready for another one!

This tank was from a Mr. Fuel off of I-85 in Mebane - not sure if the D2 there isn't up to snuff or what. Seems a bit off from previous tanks that I fueled up closer to home.

Tires 36/38, no a/c, speed about 60 except when I was drafting a couple of semis, then speed was a lot higher. But MFA indicated mileage did not suffer when doing so.
It may be worth noting MFA was pessimistic about mileage again, it indicated 45.2. It's normally optimistic by a few MPG.

Drove back from DC and the combination of Labor Day, Ernesto, and DC traffic turned out to be lethal to my economy - the first 2.5 hrs of driving we averaged 25 mph (we left Bethesda at 2pm), and probably about as many mpg. Even as traffic sped up, I wasn't able to recover so the tank average was 39.2 mpg, leaving the car with a lifetime average of 37.2. The ever-optimistic MFA gave a tank reading of 44.9 (114% of real).

This was obviously not on one tank. My wife added 2 gals at 808 miles then ran another 72 miles before we could fill to the neck with 16gals. I forgot if this kind of entry is allowed or not, but it works out the same.

I have been doing many short trips glad to see 45 again. Been around 42 lately. About 400 miles were going up to the lake, 75MPH up and 65MPH back. Mix of AC use.

Lifetime mileage now at 40.01! I filled with straight D2 for the 10000 mile service so if something comes up, I don't have to lie about what fuel is in there. It works out to about B5 in there right now.

Return trip, no a/c. Ran 63-65, which dragged mileage down a little bit.

My best so far. Tires at 38psi. 80% higway driving but still rolling hills. Using less brakes and more downshifting with the engine. Cruise control whenever possible and when going downhill I shut off the cruise but I do not shift to neutral. Running 1700 rpms and about 50 MPH and actually getting use to it. Fuel is Mobil D2. Now I can see that 60MPG is indeed possible under the right conditions.

Given the trailer pulling, I can't complain (even though I miss my 60's:( )

300 miles @ 50% @ 65 MPH & 50% @ 75 MPH with 4500+ lb trailer - few 100% throttle events.
290 miles @ 60 MPH - Misc short trips/cold starts - no trailer
40 miles @ ~75 MPH average (multiple trips to 100+) with empty trailer (3700 lbs)
20 miles @ 60 MPH with 100 lbs on trailer
No A/C use
All speeds indicated (~3% higher than actual), no Odometer Correction (~1% lower than actual)

A new low for me - this is all (except 15 miles) pulling a trailer at 70-75 indicated - Lots of WOT up hills and passing. All this trailer pulling is giving it a good workout (beating:rolleyes: ). So much for being toward the top this month with these two tanks, I'll have another trip with the trailer in a couple weeks, doubt I'll average 50 for the month. Maybe I should take some of my own advice and slow down a bit

250 miles @ 50% @ 70 MPH & 50% @ 75 MPH with ~4000 lb trailer - lots of 100% throttle.
20 miles @ 60 MPH trailer ~4000 lbs
20 miles @ 60 MPH with 100 lbs on trailer
15 miles from Home/Pewaukee to fill up
No A/C use
All speeds indicated (~3% higher than actual), no Odometer Correction (~1% lower than actual)

49.513 MPG. I'll take that! I've hit better than 50 before though so I'm still trying.

Hot Georgia, CONGRATULATIONS on 1000 miles! That just rocks.

More in a week!
Nozzle change soon. (They're back ordered! Always back ordered.)

This is a record MPG for me, and a tank record! This is my first 800 mile tank! The light had JUST come on, seems to come on a bit early for me. Might have been able to make 900 miles! Oh well.

This was about 98% highway, no A/C, about 10% at an indicated 62 mph, and the rest at an indicated 68 mph. Pretty decent mileage I think. Now I know how you guys get 1000 mile tanks, just takes sub 60 mph speeds!
If I drive any slower than this, I will get run over though, as the avg speed on the 400 series highways out here is 80 mph. About 70-75 for trucks.

Well I did expect better mileage. I have still been doing some speed testing and much of my hwy driving has been above 65mph. Not too shabby. I will try to squeeze out more mpg this tank. After all I am driving a rock.

100% driving 75MPH or over and all AC use...some 80-85MPH driving. I expected less MPG actually.

This is my best with the car. I've had it for about 2 months. Checked my tires before this run, and found them to be at 30-34 pounds. Inflated to 38 lbs all corners. At least half of this was city miles. Will be changing to full synthetic motor oil with next oil change. Maybe 50 mpg with an automatic? We'll see, but I am really happy with 46
