Oh yeah, thanks Scoop for taking care of July, it was good to have a break... (it's a good bit of work, ain't it? :) ).

And for comparison:
The Gasser competition:

bhtooefr graciously minds the gasser competition. If you would like to post in this comp please see the thread here, in the General Automotive section of the forum.

I lost the speed sensor magnet for the bicycle computer I installed on the Bolens. No more veg oil entries from the mower.

It sure is...
After having done it,I'd like to make the following suggestions -
standard format for peoples entries - like this
<field>:<value>

If you're not in the standard format - you're out
If you're not using US gallons/miles, provide the conversion results
Drivername WILL be the same as membername
a few others will come to mind.. :)

haha, yeah... the more standard, the better. I have a KM and Liter conversion on my spreadsheet, so it's not a big deal for those across the border or on another continent to continue giving me KM and L...

But the standard <field>:<value> is a big one, I don't like math problems... :)

I'm using Excel 97. What I did was copy each block of data into a notepad file, then imported using ":" as the delimiter. Then copy / Paste special/transpose to get the vertical into horizontal.
I suppose if I was doing this regularly, I'd come up with a more automated way to do some of this with BASIC / dBase

As noted before, Utah fuel is high calorie fuel, this run was on really good Flying J from Utah as provided by Ernie Rogers... don't be surprised if he gets over 80 MPG on the way to the TDIfest.

Other items in my favor.... relative humidity in the high 50% to 80%, due to tropical onshore flows, very high heat... (one big day of driving saw temps of 114 F, numerous days over 100 F. These are optimal conditions for ultra UBER MPG's per tank. Humidity is a bonus, provided you don't over fuel and blow black smoke out the back, which is much much easier to blow soot in High humidity. HIgh temps shorten your engine drivetrain warm up, and appears to give a better burn, as well as waste less hear keeping things at 185 to 190 F. Speed was 55 indicated, 52 actual, tire pressure was 36 psi cold. Everything on this tank was easy, it didn't even feel like I was trying that hard for MPG... Wyoming crude is the best for diesel mpg in TDI's so far that I've run! Anyone that says they are getting pinched on ULSD mileage is NOT getting ULSD.... this fuel doesnt stink at fill up, nor does the exhaust smell, it's like running a gasser, uber clean smelling.

Ernie, Did you post that comment of his (rather than issuing a challenge yourself) to leave you wiggle room should you not be the highest this 'Fest?
I accept, whether it is A5K's challenge or yours.

This one came out lower than expected. :( Next tank I expect to only be in the 50's as the family of 5 is taking a roadtrip to Savannah, Ga! :) which is about 300 miles away. "Dad, it's hot! Can we run the air conditioner please?" and "How many more miles"? Oh, the things we live for!

Additives: none
Speed: About 55 average
Road:95% highway
Shift: Auto
Beginning ODO 72,349
Ending ODO 73,216
Terrain: Very hilly N. GA
PSI: 51PSI all the way around (Cold sidewall Max)
Tire: Factory LRR Dunlops (About ready for new skins)
Oil: 0-20w Honda dealer stuff
A/C: None (Hardcore)

Thanks

I never get the "good" mileage with the family in the car. You list has some of my problems too.

95% highway at 75mph with A/C about 75% of the time.

It has been hot here, around 95 degrees, the humidity made it feel like 115 degrees!

Was trying 1700 RPMs (50 MPH) most of the mileage but had 183 miles of it running 70MPH & some constuction areas w/AC. AC running most of the time while at the slower speed.

I added 5 gallons of straight B100 about a week ago so this tank was really 14.111 of D2 and 5.00 gallons of B100. Pretty good...

Worst tank yet. Oh, well. Hopefully a lot of it was that front tire that was delaminating and getting really bouncy and finally let loose. Now I have smooth regular Michelin X's, so we'll see how they do. I guess I should be happy that my worst tank is still significantly higher than EPA estimates:)

tank MPG - 34.427 MPG - Heavy AC Use - only Satan would drive in upper 90's with dewpoint of 74 without A/C (or those too broke to get their A/C fixed) God Bless the man who thought of putting A/C in cars !
