Good article. The facts seemed to be right on. I wonder if the author drives a diesel? At least he knew that biodiesel is not straight vegetable oil.

Diesels account for nearly half of all passenger cars sold in Europe but for only a fraction in the U.S.
Isn't half a fraction too...

Well put and informative for many that just don't know. Except for that idling thing. What's up with that? Does he do intake cleanings on the side?

is idling really that big of deal if you run the right oil, good fuel and have a ccv filter like a provent?

Maybe he realizes how much more efficiently diesels idle. Enough to keep the AC cool.

Exactly what I liked about it. Convincing the uninformed about the benefits of diesel will require a lot of articles similar to this one. Most people don't have the attention span to pay attention to anything longer or more complex.

A few other nitpicks, but yeah, it's a good article.

(Four VWs? Didn't know they still had the Golf and Passat. )

Opel Astra platform = Saturn Ion and Chevy Cobalt platform

Opel Astra = next gen Saturn compact car - literally, an Astra with a Saturn badge stuck on

125 stock diesel HP and 70kw of electric that can be used together....Drool

I wonder how mod-friendly the coming hybrids will be in their inherent complexity. When I don't need the speed, I want to drive electric only and charge it up at home from a few solar panels to save even more fuel.
