Here it is:

Post your results like this:

Please post ALL of your tanks for the month. Individual tanks are also much easier for me to deal with rather than monthly totals. But if you must do a monthly total, that's fine too.. :)

Had two trips down and back 7 from Leesburg to Great falls to kill my mileage. I hate that road. But what are you going to do... I guess my mileage was ok, considering.

677.1/10.362= 65.34mpg

~43mpg

Fillup was B11 but it was an old dial-type pump so I'm estimating the 10.8.

Actually this fill-up was B11 but the miles were run on D2. So I put down D2 since the mileage won't be right for B11.

680.6 miles / 14.404 gallons = 47.25 mpg.

$2.739 for premium B5

Lots of city driving and my brake burn-in stop and go hurt me this time.

On all previous tanks, I had been using cruise control, set to 53-55mph.

For this tank, I experimented with driving style. Here's the rules I've been using:

1. Keep speed between 50 and 60 mph.
2. Accelerate when it's cheap: downhill.
3. Decelerate when it's cheap: uphill.
4. Maintain speed on level ground.

It seems to be working so far. The MFA has indicated some 50+mpg days during this tank, which I haven't seen in quite a while. Temps were a little warmer for this tank, which contributed to the improvement as well.

This tank I am at 302 miles so far with the needle at about the 11/16 mark. So, for those interested in looking at full stats for April to date, go right ahead....

(John, I'll post an image before the end of the month.)

That was from 4/1, I filled up last night (4/3):

Miles: 707.4

Model: Jetta
Tranny: M5
Fuel type: D2

= 50.1

Found a Bio retailer within 50 miles of me but in the opposite direction I travel everyday. :(

Keeping my speed to 80 or under. Had to slow down, traffic on the turnpike and interstates has been heavy with snowbirds heading home.

Interesting thing - the fueling station had the pump set up to shut off automatically at $35, so I had to go through the pay at the pump process twice to finish the fillup.

When does the winter diesel stop flowing and things revert back to non winterized stuff in NoVA?

they seem to be giving out summer blend in the NoVA station I frequent.

Check the Libertys in the area. B5, summer blended. (or I'm guessing, since my last tank ran 65mpg)

There is one in Leesburg, there is one in winchester, there may be one near you (but I don't know where you are)

If you are into experimentation, try 2 and 3 the other way round and see what you get, ie accelerate up hill, and coast downhill. You might be surprised!!

Best tank I've had in a while. Probably due to around 200 miles on US 7, which you can't drive too fast on, and there aren't too many stops.

Flat driving back from Yosemite, standard 65mph indicated, 62 actual. I'm at a loss for why it's so low? Maybe we are getting transitional seasonal fuel or they are pawning off all their winter blend? Or else the Biodiesel at such high percentages is killing me? I anticipated at least 50 to 51 mpg with the way I drove, 98% highway, one trip, one warm up penalty?

Can't play this month. I left the Jetta sitting in dad's driveway, and borrowed his pickup truck to move furniture. Get in back the first week of May.

550 miles at 16 miles per gallon.... one way... Ouch..

Good luck and drive safe,
Kevin

My crazy diabling the alternoator didn't do much, but it was only the last 150 or so miles on this tank.

well... the first tank of the month may be my last tank of the month, or for a long while.

was rear ended and pushed into the back of another car on the baltimore beltway this morning. Extensive damage to the rear, some damage to the front. Engine is fine, but it's going to take some work, if the car is not totalled.

Me... I'm fine. A little stiff, but fine.

(it's ok with me, I was only running at around 60mpg on this tank. I'll just keep the 65 up there)
