Last month's competiton was amazing - the most competitors to date, loads of 50+ mpg superheros, watercop's over 64mpg roof shattering average, and DareDiesel became the first driver in MPG Competition history to drive an entire month in a Passat and average 60+mpg! Thanks to everyone for posting your numbers and making this competition so much fun. Let the new games begin!

Rules:
[*]No minimum mileage requirement, but you must report all of your miles, gallons and mpg for the month.
(The 1k mile minimum was removed months ago because we don't want to exclude people with short commutes or encourage people to drive unnecessarily to get to 1k miles.)
[*] If you are joining the competiton for the first time, post your profile information [click here to view MPG competitor profiles]
[*] If your ODO readings are re-calibrated (or mathematically corrected), please note this in your post. In fairness to our fellow MPG competitors, let's be sure we do not error on the side of MPG inflation. Re-calibrated (or mathematically corrected) ODO readings should be conservative.[/list]

Can I join for the least mileage? Even with 44-PSI, 55 MPH and babying the bloody beast I end up with max 42...

Did you look at last months competition? You would have been fourth from last, I was last with only 38mpg...

I haven't updated the profile list in awhile, but I promise to sometime this month. If you want you info on there it would be best to PM me your info and I'll put it up...

Also...
I'll have a new format for this months sheet that should make it easier on me. I removed how many miles you currently have on your car, since I have that in the profiles and it's too hard to keep up with...

4/2/05 - 567 Miles/13.17 Gal = 43.05 MPG

I added 8 oz. of Power Service Diesel Kleen to the tank.

Automatic Transmission
Total mileage = 11423 miles.
Fuel = D2
Tire pressure = 40 PSI on all four
80% highway, 20% city driving.
Normal highway cruise speed = 70 - 76 mph.

For my last fill (the last week of March) I reported I used B11. I was told today that they haven't started pumping it yet. So, I'm still using D2. They hope to have it available by mid April. Can't wait to start using it.

Rob... please use the format that everybody else uses:

Miles/Gallons = MPG or something similar to that.

I hate to be blunt, but I could care less how much you paid for your fuel or your cost efficiency. All the info you put in there makes it really hard to look at and decipher out what I need... Just make it easier on me.

Hi guys, 2004 jetta, 5speed, base model- 24, 000 miles, tires at 45 lbs. front and back. No mods.- as usually, last trip from same pump got me 6.5 gallons and 335 miles. 51 miles per gallon. I always get over 50 in the mid west. Out in New England, never got over 42. I think the fuel sucks in the east. Here in the Midwest, I always use Amoce/Bp/premier- some good****. really, Plus I always use Synergyn Cetane/Lubricant additive. Seems to work pretty good.

Thanks Rob,
that's better.

Now... Esp, et al, I don't like word math problems, so just put everything MPG-wise in one line and then talk about it in another..
And put a couple lines in between as well.

Man, I must be grumpy in April...

Man, I must be grumpy in April...
nothing a self-gratifying mod cannot solve
.
I've had my GLI springs in my living room for 3 weeks waiting on my Koni Yellows that I ordered on the same day I bought my springs..

I met up with some VWers from www.ncvw.org today and I was the only TDI. Really cool cars there, but I don't think my fuel mileage for this tank will be too good..
I unexpectedly did 115MPH trying to catch up to the group after three of us got caught back.
Guy behind me said there was a good bit of smoke coming out, makes Daddy proud.

To participate, do you need to top off on the first of the month?

I'll have to watch you guys on this and start keeping my own numbers on my own this month. To get practice. Then I'll see if I can remember to track on 5/1.

No, just record your information as you go through the month. The ground rules are at the beginning of this post and you can check out the "competitors spreadsheet" to get an idea of the information provided along with your MPG data. PM jnecr with the numbers and data on your vehicle, and you are ready to go. By the way, welcome to the TDI club and goodluck Veedubing.

Here is my first fill for the month:

4/3 300.3 miles driven, 7.324 gal B20= 41.002 mpg

40 psi all 4 corners, bike rack, 85% highway driving on I85/I95/495 (if you include 495 in DC as highway driving
if not, then my local % goes wayup the other 15% is city/suburb driving at or around speed limit) highway jaunts are usually 65-80 mph. Still using motul 505.01, about time for a fluid & filter swap, guess that'll happen next weekend
got 19,290 miles on the car at this point... racking them up fast, doing ~1k miles a week

Not everyday you can find the lowest price in a metropolitan area of 2.5 to 3 million
, and conveniently on your way to a relative's home, and my car smelled inside like Power Service, from the bottle in the trunk. I won't be smelling Power service for a while.
