just getting this month's MPG competition rolling. jnecr's lucrative contract to continue producing the results spreadsheet has been renewed indefinitely.

congrats to sodapop6620! in February he broke the 60mpg barrier, took over the top spot, and is our current MPG Competition title holder. all hail the king

two PDs made the top 5 for the first time in February, could March be the month we see a PD in the top three?

let the games begin!

Thank you
I will try not to forget all the little people that helped me get this lofty title, but I only managed 59.942MPG for the month. Thanks to my 2 heavy weight friends

All hail the mileage contest
This month I will be going at break neck speed of 60 mph. Hopefully the weather will warm up and the mileage will stay the same.

Ok, I'll try to fill up before the end of the month, deal?
Deal!

Yes, sodapop won, "only" 59.94 mpg.

I'll keep the spreadsheet again this month, it's going to be a hectic week, but after that it should be smooth sailing until April.

You all are speed demons!
I never break 50 max for my commute, and that's for 80-90% of the distance.
Other than the initial acceleration and 7 stops (including the one from the driveway to the road and stopping at the parking lot at work), I rarely go less than 70 mph on my commute...
(except traffic jams due to accidents or construction... grrrrrrrrrr!)...
... the cruise control doesn't even need to be reset/restarted: when I get to crusing speed it just kicks in!

My Y2K bug is buggy!

Well guys, I am so excited! Today was the first day that I had to fuel up. I bought a 2002 Jetta GLS TDI, 5spd, about a week ago
, fueled up, then and put 570.9 miles on it. Today I fueled up, 11.8 gallons, aprox 48.38 mpg
I drive about 80 miles a day @70mph.

The Fuel light came on, about how long do I have before I should fuel up after that? At least today I was on the way to the station to fuel up.

It’s quite different than the truck I have, 98 Dakota R/T that gets 13-14mpg.

60 mph??????????

Why going so fast?

Try 90 kph or 56 mph...it's more better as we say over here!
I did 55mph last month. On the PA Turnpike I was taking my life in my own hands going that speed. I was watching the mirrors as much as watching the road. I would use my flashers to warn people when I saw them speeding up behind me. This worked most of the time but a few folks beeped at me and I am sure that they told me I was number 1. How did they know that I would be #1 in the mileage contest??

That's hilarious. I use my hazards to warn fast approaching vehicles too.

I like your signature addition so I added my 4th place achievement to mine

Feb was an unusual month for me with 2 business road trips, hence all the miles, so I doubt I'll be back in the Top 5 anytime soon.

Cheers!

I measure my wins from how far from the bottom I am..
I probably won't be up that far for a very, very long time, 5th from the bottom!!

I just wonder if there will be separate divisions - one for manual transmissions, and another for automatics.

You get the first entry for the new month, which means that you'll be in the lead for at least an hour or so!

Is your Beetle really a 6 speed auto? Is that the new DSG box? Or do you have the Tiptronic which is a 5 speed automatic?

This tank was straight D2 and I set all my tires at 40psi.

This is a new personal best, and I'm excited. The PD keeps getting better as it breaks in. Sometime this tank I'll be doing the 5k mile oil change. Wonder if that will affect things?

well sure enough
My bad, I checked the website as well, I didn't realize that the NB got a 6 speed and the rest a 5 speed, unusual to say the least.
