I changed the core support to put the round headlights out of the cabriolet, its not nessary to put the tdi in, but if you want A/C in the truck you will have to cut the core support to allow the compressor to fit. Then you have the a/c lines to contend with, later here you will see how i did them, im painting the truck right now but in the next 3 weeks i will be putting it all back together and will have pictures

So when will you be on tour with the truck?

I hope you aren't serious but if you are contact a moderator. The progress looks good. Things don't always happen as quickly or as good as we hope, keep up the good work. I hope all is well.

Looks real smooth, what color is it getting? Also, how expensive were the A/C lines?

This is a great project. You're almost done and it's looking awesome! I have a Mk1 AHU TDI project as well with a 1980 Rabbit but it's not nearly as far along as yours. Good luck!

This week is my final week before paint on Saturday, I'm waiting on 1 fitting for the water side of the intercooler, I have the tank mounted and lines run to the pump, I then can test it for leaks when the fitting arrives then I can bolt the fenders on for the final time before paint. Were installing the battery box Monday night, get the battery hooked up and it will be ready for the paint shop. it's finially coming together

Anyone thought of cutting the back of the cab and extending it back for more room? I need the leg room. Nice build vw_nut! Been wanting to do this for a while. I have removed everything in the bay except for the batt tray. I got some rust that needs attn above the towers. Bought a 96 passat 3 months ago just to swap it, but its borderline to nice to use as a donor car. So its a daily for now. Yr build make me want to start a new project. Have three at once right now. may wait. Did u make the 30 gal tank?

Yea, I've seen a few 4 doors made. Thought it would be easier to extend the rear of the cab rather than cut the caddy down the middle and use rabbit doors off a 2 door. They are longer. Just don't want the cab to warp or move after its cut.

Wow! This is a very nice build! I just went through the entire 10 pages and learned a lot! Do you know how much money you've put into this build? (Minus labor of course) I'm pretty sure it's more than I could afford at the time, but I would love to do something like this one day.

Very, very nice!

Nick
