electrical issues affecting radio

SO the radio (RCD310?) quit working in our '12 golf wagon. It would come on intermittantly however. I checked every fise in the car and all appear to be good. (Thanks VW for not putting the fuse diagram in the owners manual)
After some seaches and googling, it looked like quite a few others had issues with the radio quitting. So I ordered an aftermarket unit.
Installed today, and wouldnt ya know, it wont work, or does very intermittantly as well.

SO a problem with an Airbag control module, and a Databus for Infotainment, and the radio.
Any chance there is one loose connector somewhere? ive wiggled all the wires and bundles I can easily reach. up near the clutch pedal theres a bunch of relays and all looks normal there.
Several months ago I had the windshield replaced.....
Its not uncommon for rodent damage in these parts but I dont see any obvious sign, even in where the wiper motor is. Next step is to remove that plastic cover around the wiper arms and look see whats in there.
The battery is original, but still does start the car well, even in the recent -20, -30 temps we recently had, so im not convinced its a low voltage problem.
Any insight on where to check would be helpful!

All I want is to have a radio!!!! I bought some sort of Android unit (ATOTO A6) to hook up thinking the stock unit was pooched.
Is there a way to wire a radio in these cars with an add-a-fuse and bypass the canbus?
The radio's harness has a +12v acc that goes to the canbus adapter, and a hot +12 that would go to the vehicle harness.
What I really should do is figure out why this is not working to begin with.....

this is a known issue that will likely require replacement. I had the same problem back in the day... along with many others!

I had the same thing except mine shut off and never turned on again. I'm certain it's the headunit, which will make it fun removing the CDs.

Odd thing is that I had a similar fault with the ABS module shortly before the radio went out and never occurred again. Not too long afterwards my ECM went bad, luckily VW warrantied it with the emissions recall. Not sure if this helps, but thought it odd we both had a radio go out and a subsequent ABS module issue.

I tried a few more things.....the pushing of the power button does nothing.
I checked the red/yellow wires for voltage.....there is a fluctuating from 5-10 volts on both of the red/yellow wires. I can only assume they should be at 12v. The car battery is fine and load tests ok.
So now....where does the power come from......
PRY4SNO, the Airbag fault was from me pulling fuses while the car was powered on.....oops. after cleaning the fault codes from the modules none have came back but the databus one.....

If the radio can’t be reached then it’s either a fuse or the radio is dead. If it has the RCD-310 I’d replace it with an RCD-510, RNS-510, or RNS-315 and add a backup camera. You can get each of those models with the factory backup camera input on the rear. I have a few of them if you need to buy one.

So I found a hit all the time fuse and added an add-a-fuse and ran a hot wire to the radio. It worked. Sort of. It would reset, always show the clock, asked for the security code once, but would not power on all the time. Seemed likes it’s pooched. However, I’m still getting the databus infotainment code from vcds.
I had this Atoto radio here, stuck it in and tada it works. Vcds sees the radio (there is a canbus adapter on it) but still got that other error.
Barry, id have considered a factory unit but there are no wires in my car for a back up camera or Nav. So I’d have to add it all and that ain’t happening.
